Has anyone seen Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd with Johnny Depp? Is anyone making Mrs. Lovett's costume? Just thought -- I would ask -- it is an awesome costume. The movie was bit on the bloody side :)

    S_S edit: updated title :)

Do you mind if I change the title to Sweeney Todd costumes thread? We halfway carried a ST conversation in the Atonement thread. :p

I'm not planning on making the dress, but I took extensive notes on the Mrs. Lovetts dress at FIDM.

Mrs. L. has some very pretty dresses. They really describe her character in a lot of ways.

As I said in the other topic, my favorite is the blue and white dress with all those STRIPES. Very Burton-ish. ;)

I'm about 80% through my Mrs. Lovett costume. The top is done, the skirt is nearing completion, and the corset just needs boning and grommets. I've got a convention this weekend that it needs to be finished by. I might have time to spare! ;)

Starfest in Denver, and of course I'll post pictures! I'm hoping that the pictures turn out well since my Mr. Todd is not a fan of the camera nor is he a fan of makeup.

Sweet! Can't wait to see pictures!

Did my notes make any sense at all?

Your notes have been INVALUABLE. I've taken a lot of notes myself from watching the movie, blinding myself from spending hours staring at pictures, and just trying to intuit what Ms Atwood was going for. Then you sent your notes and most of my research was confirmed! Hooray! And I had the double bonus of getting detail information I didn't have already.

I just wish I could have seen the costume myself to really get an idea on how dirty I need to make mine before this weekend. -=le sigh=-

I would love to make a Mrs. Lovett costume, but I don't know if I'd be able to. Anyone who has made, or is making, Mrs. Lovett's "poor" costume, do you think it's something a novice could make?

Eh, the general dress, perhaps. Completely accurate with all the insane detailing, I don't know.

That's kind of what I figured. Ah well, maybe when I've got more experience.

LOL I think I'll work my way up. I have a few simpler projects I'd like to tackle first. But thanks for the encouragement!

The fact that you put on the red loop trim makes me insanely-geekily happy. :D

Can I get close up detail pictures??

Sure I can do that. I'll put the whole thing on my dress dummy and get some shots taken for you. I did notice recently, well after I'd done my stamping, that my paisley and dot pattern is somewhat spaced further apart than hers. So grr on that, but what can I do now? -=shrug=-

    Ok, pictures.

I might go get some small crimson flowers or thread or something to bring these out.

Your notes helped me pick out a dotted swiss rather than the mesh I was going to use. Thanks!

I went with a sort of "Bra" with the crimson organza trim on it.

Of course I had to put the red loop trim on there. Otherwise it's just a boring skirt. I need to go get more to have on hand for repairs. There is a 2" spot on the front that I stepped on that needs replacing.

And of course I still have to dirty the whole thing up, but it's hard to do after spending all that time putting it all together.

It looks amazing! What you need to do is put some black cockroach juice and legs on your rolling pin! ;)

That's the second time I've been told that! lol I had put some white powder on my rolling pin so that when I waved it around it left dust trails.
