Summary: Leia and Isolder get engaged. A look at the newly engaged couple during and after the banquet in their honor
Notes: This is my response to the I Dare You challenge given to me by Jedi of Ennth.

I Dare You to write a Leia/Isolder songfic. By Leia/Isolder, I mean a romantic relationship between the two.

The fic must be upbeat and feature L/I mush, and someone must be wearing a pink headband.

The fic must include the words avuncular, bromidic, and captious.

Han cannot be mentioned by name, and Lando must make an appearance with Mara.

?Today, what the galaxy has been waiting for has finally arrived. Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan has announced her acceptance of the proposal from Prince Isolder to become his wife and the Queen Mother of the Hapes Cluster.?

?I know I speak for all when say how happy we are to be a part of the happily ever after for our beloved Princess.?

Leia muted the sound. This particular holojournalist annoyed her. She had seen the woman and heard her nasally voice throughout the banquet. There was no need for a repeat performance.

Settling down on the pillows spread out on the floor in front of her bed, the former leader of the Rebellion against the Empire watched on screen her future husband escorting her into the Hapan ballroom. Isolder looked handsome in his traditional Hapan attire, the dark gray shirt which brought out his gray eyes, the black snug fitting pants, matching cape and headband around his long blonde braided hair.

Beside him, his fiancée wore a light silver gown, designed especially for this day by a survivor of her home world. Its sleek fabric came tight around her torso before flaring out at her hips and down to the floor. The front was low enough to show a modest amount of her breasts and it was open down to the small of her back. Her hair was worn partly up in a bun atop her head, with stragglers of curls falling across her shoulders.

Completing the ensemble was a jeweled necklace and matching earrings that were a gift from Alfier. The eldest servant to the Prince, who was actually more like family, presented them to Leia while she was dressing. They were exquisite gems which probably cost him his life savings. She dared not refuse for fear of hurting his feelings.

While putting the jewels around her neck Alfier offered his avuncular advice. Leia almost burst into laughter as the man told her, ?Our Prince loves you, his people already love you. To make them happy and to be happy yourself, take the advice Ta Chume will bestow upon you and do the exact opposite.?

Leia caught a glimpse of him, on the holonet, standing behind her and Isolder, almost out of the spotlight. As if he knew she?d be watching this later the man looked into the holocam and winked before stepping out of view.

Ta Chume came into view then, causing her smile to fade. She gave her successor a kiss on both cheeks and took her hand, bringing her to the receiving line.

Leia watched as the holonet began to show all the greetings to the invited dignitaries of the New Republic and the representatives of the sixty three worlds in the Hapes Cluster. Apparently they were going to run the complete introduction which Leia remembered being over an hour. Not interested in this part she got up and decided to finish unpacking the rest of her things that arrived this afternoon.

When she returned, the large screen showed the greetings still in process. A deep laughter was heard from the cushions she left behind. Rounding the side of the bed Isolder was discovered lying across the pillows, watching the broadcast.

Leia looked back at the screen and then back at him, hoping to see what was so humorous. When the man came on the screen she realized Isolder must have remembered where he stood in the line.

?That?s not nice.? She said, tossing the last remain

 

I loved it! It was sad that Han was dead, but life goes on and that's reality. A lovely peek into what "might have been" had things gone differently on Dathomir! Bravo!

It wasn't the dare itself that was rough. I'm a big fan of Isolder's, who really needs another wife in profic I'm just saying. But it was the song choice that was killing me. I can't even tell you how many songs I went through. This one was in the middle somewhere and I kept going back to it so at the last minute, literally, I kept it. It's one of my favorites.

Thanks. I love mush. Don't give me action or humor (because I have a very odd sense of it). It's a good thing you didn't know that before you issued your dare, right?

I must say, I do adore this. I personally am not a huge fan of Isolder ( he was mean enough in the beginning, but hten became likeable, and, well, I just don't like him too terribly much) buth this was done so well. When I saw that the Falcon had crashed, i gasped. You killed off Han, which doesn't make me happy... but its terribly well written and a wonderful AU. i really enjoyed this.

Sorry I didn't want to kill him, but I couldn't see Han off in the wings while Leia consorted with the Prince. It was the only way it made sense to me.
