SWNX Dueling Practices - Starting March 14 through May 30

That's what I was figuring and planning on, just wanted to be sure.

 

It's never a bad idea, though for the first few practices if you are just picking up the basic move sets they might not be needed right away. Never hurts to have them on hand and then decide as you go.

As you learn your choreography routines, it definitely helps to know what restrictions you have from your costume, so going a few times with it is a good idea.

Do we know where in the Adam's Mark we will be?

 

I've heard we were looking at the room near the entrance of the Adam's Mark where we had the after party two years ago. But, we usually use that big open floor at the top of the escalators. Larry would know for certain.

Reminder:
Workshops are mandatory and cover specific skills sets:

3/18) Stance, Movement, and the Basics of Stage Combat

4/22) Staged punches and kicks

5/6) Break falls and staged throws

The Tuesday clinics are encouraged but not mandatory. They are your opportunity to work on developing your routine and the skills we cover in the workshops as well as to get feedback from your fellow members as well as myself.

As Chris said to me after the first workshop, the purposes of the workshops and the clinics is to help you get your dueling to the next level; to make it look really sharp for our 10th anniversary performance.

But, it is up to you and your dueling partner to schedule practices on your own time to really make your duel shine. Minimally you should be working with your partner one day a week from now until June.

If you haven't already seen it, the newest episode of Rebels, S3 E20, Twin Suns, has an excellent sequence showing very clearly a version of the Jedi salute and balanced ready stance that soon switches to the combat ready stance. Note how they will draw your attention to footwork. Really a must see for anyone dueling this year.

Just a quick question about parking...do we have to pay or is there validation of some kind at the front desk?

James Jonathan Katherine and Aiden are not attending tonight.

 

Park in the ramp, collect a parking ticket and BRING IT IN WITH YOU to rehearsal. One group rep will collect all of the parking tickets, take them to the front desk and get them validated, then dispersed back to the members to prevent them from having to pay.

 

Hoping John will be there to work on duel at beginning of show. Beckie won't be there so I want to make good use of m time.

 

Be sure to message Jon and ask ahead of time.
