Maybe TCW and 1313 and all the rest are being cancelled because it will have no bearing on this future sequel trilogy. Crucible and this trilogy could very well be the bridge from the Star Wars of the past 10 years to this new era of Star Wars. Like Crucible's description said about bending time and space. Emphasis on time. I'm all for bringing time travel into Star Wars to help the ST

I'm not saying SotJ is the ST. I'm saying Jaina is being used by Golden and all the EU to set the stage for ST
I think we can pretty safely say that. "Jaina Solo" is not a good name for a SW main character. I've always cringed a bit about it tbh.
I will be really surprised in Leia has not had any children in the ST, or if Luke hasn't because they are the last two jedi in the galaxy they need to have children or there would be no movie. I know all about Jedi not being allowed to love, but that doesn't change the fact that Luke and Leia are the last of their species. Jaina, Jacen, Ben and Anakin are stupid names anyway, i hope they change them, but Han and Leia are stupid names too. Luke and Leia need to pass on their Midichlorians.

The book isn't cancelled just because of the lack of the news. Like someone mentioned on here a while back "there's never news on SW books."
I really doubt they'd ever put the names Ben and Anakin on the big screen. Just don't sound like something from the SW universe, do they.
Well, they come from our galaxy. I don't like some of the names either but I hesitate to call them stupid since there are plenty of people named them (except Anakin). But Han is German and Leia is Hawiian for "child of heaven" and they are all earth names so , I guess, what is a "spacey" name sound like? Yurgontazly? Bafoofoo and Mifufu? Bagnold? Merfuddle? Garffle?
I like the names we have because they are similar to ours. If they were something completely random would we connect with them as much? I probably wouldn't.
Slight correction: Han isn't German, that would be Hans (as in Hans Olo). And spacey names? Can it get anymore spacey than Jet Nebula? But to take this a bit more seriously, SW starts off with names like Luke, Ben, and Owen. Along with some names that are more out there like Beru, Obi-Wan and Chewbacca. And then there's that bit about Timothy Zahn trying to call Han's son Jason, complete with all mythological connections as "the healer", only to have it spacified into Jacen (Fun fact: for about 15 years I never heard anyone say that name aloud and therefore called him something which would probably have been spelled Jaken, thanks to German phonetics. Spacey real name parallel entirely lost on me.).
Bafoofoo Skywalker? I'm in. Time to send this to Disney as a suggestion for the new protagonist's name.
I think han, Leia, Luke, owen, Ben, Jacen, Anakin etc are all fine. it's just "Jaina Solo" that has always been annoying to me, personally
i like the names okay. There are plenty of humans as well as non humans with unique names. Obi_wan is pretty cool
I didn't know the origin for the name Han. I stand corrected. I want the names to reflect the real world. German names and Hawaiian names are good. Jainaism is a religion so I'm against it for same reason i don't recommend "Christian Skywalker/Solo".
Jaina is just a play on the name Jane, to make it seem more StarWars-y. It's nothing to do with Jainism.
