Well, another week without SW Tales #9 (according to the DH website) [face_plain], but not without a SW comic. :)

Today issue 1 of the two part Tag and Bink are dead is supposed to have been released. Anybody find it? I'll be heading to my comic shop shortly and hopefully I'll find it in.

I will admit though, I have mixed emotions about the series considering how DH has focused too much on humor in recent comics and not enough on story (the latest Tales stories, the Yavin Vassilika, etc).... I will reserve my opinion though until I actually read the issue.

I don't own it yet, but the cover sure brings back memories of the old "classic" SW days and styles.

I went to my comic store, and they didn't have it. Any news as to whether or not it was delayed?

I found it as well. And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. :)

Especially that preview for issue 2! [face_laugh]

    Basically:

Tag and Bink don't wanna die aboard the Tantive 4, so they knock some Stormies out, steal their uniforms, and eventually end up on the death star.

We then find out that they were the:

    A) tie pilot that the Falcon followed to the Death Star

    B) The stormtroopers that let Obi-Wan get by them (Top gassing!)

    C) and were Vader's wingmen.

Apparently, as of the last panel, we see them floating around in the debris of the Death Star...they're still alive, or so the next issue box claims.

Basically, it's a fun little trip through Episode IV through the eyes of a pair of hapless Rebels.

Oh it's a lot of fun. And although the inside cover has the Infinities label, it still fits into continuity pretty well. Not a difficult squeeze at all. Rubio knows his stuff.

Considering the fact, that the pilot of that tiefighter, The storm troopers in the death star, and the vader's wingman have been covered already by WEG, and or WOTC material as far as I'm awhare. This one has infinities on it because they have no intention of putting it into continuity.

Perhaps the CCG, but definately not WOTC or WEG. Neither have covered these pilots or troopers yet. As for the CCG, I'll look into that.

Also, in the tradition of "A Death Star is Born" you have little jokes included in the drawings...

A "honk if you love evil" sign on the Devastator.

That green smilie dude with his tongue sticking out (does he have a name?) at the Devestator.

A Dark Horse outline on the Death Star

A Big Boy inside the DS, as well as somebody on a lower level that appears to be wearing pajamas (is there a story behind that one?)

Maybe it was the CCG, or maybe it's issue 2 that has the incorrect details?

I think someone said colonel drozyn(sp.) shot threepio? Anycase if the cover means anything(which it doesn't have too) then they shot threepio. Anycase, you won't see these ones on any official timelines most likely. But even still I'm looking forward to reading them. Since I love Rubio's other works, including troops.

It's crazy that they'd all be in that many places at different points of the story.

If it all fits, well, cool, it's no less crazy then my theory of a nimbanel agent, heater, and jabba all meeting Han Solo on that fateful day in mos eisely, ;).

    DS-61-2 was Vader's left wingman's call sign.
Specially trained pilot in reserve for missions with Vader. Nicknamed Mauler Mithel.

    DS-61-3 was Vader's right wingman's callsign.
Reputation for ferocity in combat. Corellian Pilot with excellent skills. Nicknamed "Backstabber"

Ok, they're named. Sort of. However, what's to say that these are Vader's usual wingmen, and that Tag and Bink merely stole their uniforms and callsigns?

Edit: Yeah, I jammed it into my timeline already. Fit the various scenes into the respective spots they would appear if one read all the different A New Hope sources out there.

Yeah, it was very good. It reminded me a lot of the classic Bungo n' Rusti Star Wars comics. Oh, and of course it reminded me of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

    Thanks,

Design Sith!! I couldn't have said it better myself.

I can't remember which one asked if they were the ones who blasted 3PO, but if you look at the way the comic is going I'm sure you can guess the answer.

Mara was in the first draft of part two, but it wasn't working for me so I had to write here out.

Two key players in TESB will make an appearance.

And the guy in his pajamas is a reference to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I started writing the story the day that Doug Adams died. It's kinda my tribute to him
