I didn't even pay attention to the tentacle difference between the TCW Quarren and Tessek in Ep.VI (not IV). I was more concerned when they made their mouths disappear under that goofy nose, like with this guy in 'Mystery Of A Thousand Moons' for instance:

When the Water War arc came along, it seems like they ditched the nose which was only positive (and they also apparently gave their Quarren a redesign):

    Did anyone else notice this?

    You are not alone.

    THIS is how Quarren look...

I hate this design of the Quarren... it does not even look anything like it.
Until Season Four I was thinking that the show was never gonna do a Quarren's look right...

Quarren do not have noses... the design was a horrible move. Quarren after Season Four look like they should - no nose, huge fangs and exactly like Tikkes. The TCW crew's excuse for the Quarren look was that he was missing teeth from age.

I wonder what made them redesign their Quarren to look correct from S4 and on.

The older design has a more humanoid face. It may be TCW was stuck on making it easy for kiddies to read emotions. The new model not so much.

Maybe because the Quarren were going to play a central role and the crew wanted to do the aliens right for once.

Right... kiddies to read emotions?! This is about something in a show that has 50 % of it's cast in full body armor with faceless helmets or emotionless battle droids.

The new model is so much better and is screen acurate... Trying to please the kiddies - if that was the reason - is not the way to go.

Faceless helmets and toothy masks have been in kids shows for a long time. However I'm reminded of the way Pixar does faces.

True... but faceless helmets do not allow much reading of emotions.

This guy is simply a human/quarren cross. Love knows no boundaries.

It's a lifestyle decision that I think is wrong.

In all seriousness though, I didn't remember that character looking so bad until I saw this picture. I did remember the limp tentacles though, and that always did bother me. KOTOR represented the Quarren in a form true to the film's representation, and I don't see why TCW couldn't do the same.

Another thing that bothered me was the male twi'leks. Bib Fortuna was the first one we saw, but then the EU proceeded to represent them quite differently, like in SW: Galaxies and TOR. Then Orn Free Taa was the second kind of male Twi'lek to be seen in the films and he looks completely different yet and no twi'lek even remotely similar was seen among the citizens of Ryloth. KOTOR represented male twi'leks as looking very much like Bib Fortuna, but then TCW went with something completely different yet again - about a half-way step between what they looked like in Galaxies and Bib Fortuna.

    Bib Fortuna:

    • Bony projections on brow
    • Fatty gullet under chin
    • Bulbous skull
    [IMG]

Galaxies' Twi'leks (pretty much just looks like a human with lekku)

Cham Syndulla (and TCW's Twi'leks) - pretty much split the difference of the above two forms

Sure, Bib was ugly. But he also looked distinctly alien. I don't like how much the Twi'leks were human-ified (more so than Bib already was).

But nothing like the two male twi'leks established on film.

Almost nothing beats the things established in the movies, but Chum was awesome.

LOL. There was a similar one of these Quarren in Lightsaber Lost. I agree that there could be cross-breeds or sub-species.

There have been such Quarren each season until Season Four. I am hoping for only Season Four/Tikkes/Nossor Ri- like Quarren from now on...

    LOL

We hate you too... Cheers! :p

Pessimism is just hiding itself. It will reveal itself soon enough, just as the Sith did.
<Sigh> I am so pessimistic and depressed typing this message is even giving me a hard time...

I've been left so let down by the first two episodes of the current arc that I'm not getting as psyched for the show to come back from break as I normally would. This is shaping up to be the worst 4-episode arc, and given the recent waste that was the Onderon arc that's really saying something.

Even the good episodes are bad.
