Full Series TCW The Complete Season Four DVD/Blu-ray Thread

You probably won't see a DTS-HD track for the first two seasons.

if they release the whole series. When Disney acquired Marvel and canceled Spectacular Spider-Man, they didn't release the Season Two box set.

 

Wouldn't a limited edition set of the entire series be incredibly valuable? Especially if the episodes were presented in chronological order. IIRC that's what happened with the Young Indy series. And Disney is fond of releasing items for a limited time, too. But with Disney's usual prices, a complete series set would be so expensive, ouch.

 

Yes it would....but it isn't a certainty that it will happen. Especially if they decide to cancel the show (I'm pretty sure they won't, though.)

 

Oh, man, the uproar if the show was canceled before it finished.

 

The chance of that happening is very small. Lucasfilm owns TCW and is a completely different situation then SSM, Sony, Marvel and Disney. Not to mention GL will probably continue to serve as Supervising Director of this and doesn't want to see this to end. This show still makes a butt load of money for Lucas..well now Disney I guess.

 

I drifted through HMV a few days ago and I noticed something peculiar about the placements of the TCW boxsets on the shelves. S1, S2 and S3 were situated in the children's/family DVD section, while S4 was in the general/adult TV series section.

It seems TCW is moving up in the world.

 

I'm thinking, I don't want to purchase the seasons on Blu-ray, especially the first two, if they will be released later on with new DTS-HD audio to match all the other Blu-rays.

 

Don't be so sure. We really don't count for the much, in the grand scheme of things. It happened to Spiderman after its makers were bought out.

 

I watched Brothers. This episode is only slightly extended: Savage touches a second box and the dust, again, activates his medallion. But the short scene of Mother Talzin is still in the wrong place.

 

Are the director's cuts only on the blu-ray? I didn't notice any differences on the dvd.

 

I didn't really notice any big differences on Blu. I think they're only extended by a few seconds.

 

Yeah, the director's cuts are only minutely different from the aired version. They aren't a reason I'd get the Blu-ray over DVD.

 

I've by now rewatched Season 4 including the slightly extended episodes and that episode didn't have the Director's Cut symbol next to it so I'm sure it's got no new bits (and I don't think I've heard about the scene being in the wrong place before, care to explain?).

 

Maybe I just remember it differently! It was really nice to see the whole season (minus Mon Cala) in widescreen. It was like seeing the episodes for the first time all over again.

OK, Mother Talzin. This will be an excuse to watch it again. If you notice the globe in front of her, as she monologues, there's a red dot and a green dot on her (magical?) hologram of Lotho Minor. Well, when the story goes back to Savage, he hasn't yet left the diner. Perhaps she had a vision of the future, and we got to witness it too. Personally, I don't think so. I had hoped it would be put (in my opinion) in the correct place on the "home video" version: just before Savage lands on Lotho Minor.

 

The Blu-ray is totally worth it for the correct aspect ratio and full resolution. Far as I know CNHD on Brighthouse where I live in only 720p. Its absolutely gorgeous. The Rako Hardeen arc which is one of my favorites really was like watching it for the firsttime with how great it looked. I actually haven't seen watched the last arc for S4 on blu-ray yet. I better get cracking.

 

I swear I thought of you, when I watched Umbara! It was so different than I'd become accustomed. The TV versions just don't compare.
