[TECH] Board downtime

    One of the disks in our filer system failed miserably and it took about 2 hours to rebuild a new disk and solve DB restoration problems. 3 techs are on the scene and the IT folks are working w/ the vendor to make sure this won't happen again.

    Sorry for the downtime folks!

    Good it was just temp. Otherwise, not a pleasant sight to see.

    How can the vendor prevent random hard disk failure? Even the best drives sometimes just crap out.

    Typically, 99.99% uptime is guaranteed as a part of an SLA. Total failure (sev 1 incidents) usually need to be fixed WITHIN ONE HOUR to meet those SLA times.
