[tech] Slow.........

Down on the lower right hand side of the board listings you'll find a line something like the following:

© 2005 IGN Entertainment, Inc (2.4.2, ASPNET3) 0.188

That last number is a link. It's also a timer.

If that number is smaller than 1, then the problem probably isn't with the boards, it's with whatever is between you and the boards.

If you see that number greater than 1, please post about it. Otherwise, the problem isn't with the boards, and there's nothing that zerosleep can do about it.

 

I have 10.531 as a number in the lower corner and the boards have been working slow for me.

 

I just had a 3.156 when trying to load the RotS Forum. In this case it happened when I was just trying to load the Forum. However, the problem seems to happen more when I am trying to Reply to a message.

EDIT: When I was Previewing this message I got a 47.875. It does seem to happen more when I Reply to a message or Preview a Reply before posting.

 

And now I got a 61.203 when trying to load this forum.

I had to go on betaboards.theforce.net which is working fine.

EDIT: It is 12:20 EST where I am and it now seems that everything I load at TheForce.net is taking a lot of time. In the counter that Raven suggested to look at, I am getting a lot of 3.4's and 6.5's. Nothing under 1.

 

I just got a 5.516 when loading this thread.


I'm getting "host not found" on the main forum, and it's really slow today.

 

I got a 0.063 when loading this page with betaboards.theforce.net

And

I got a 24.172 when loading this page with boards.theforce.net

 

I just had a fright - I typed boards.theforce.net and the adress my navigator decided to open was boardsnotfound.ign.com. It happened two or three times, until I used the link on tf.net in order to make sure it wasn't linked to the move.


And I got a 12.219 opening this thread - the boards have enver been this slow on my computer - what does all this mean?

 

I'm getting above 10 pretty regularly.

 

I got 8.078 when I refreshed this thread. Previously I had 30.033. Like Twinnie said, what does this all mean?

 

Well until today this problem has only happened to a select number of Users, myself included. Now it appears that everyone is experiencing this now.

 

betaboards is snappy fast for me, but not regular

I get a lot of "document contains no data" on Mozilla.

 

Good call. betaboards is working good for me too.

 

I love betaboards now. The regular board was just ridiculously slow. I was fluctuating .3 - .5, but now it's better.

 

I was getting a lot of high numbers from that timer yesterday Raven, but this topic is loading just fine this morning. The SciFi-3D forum is still loading slow though so I'm not sure what's going on.


EDIT: Of course right after I type that I get over 20's everywhere.

 

ZeroSleep says that we're now having database issues.

my main problem is getting onto the UK Regional forum, even now it seems to hang for ages. yesterday it was taking 5 minutes plus to load any board that i was trying to view!! just gave up in the end. today is a little better but still having trouble getting onto the UK Regional board. its changing background colours from plain white behind the threads, to orange. don`t know what that is about or if this is causing the problem?!

truly annoying this is.

Well, I can't edit my last post anymore, but it is slow again.


So, I'll go to betaboards like the users above me.

edit - I got 2.500 on betaboards, but that is much faster than the 60 something I got earlier.

 

The board started to slow down again for me a few minutes ago. I got an 18.641 when I clicked on the topic,and it took 3 tries to bring up the post reply box.

EDIT: betaboards.theforce.net is making the boards run alot faster for me too.
