[TECH] The 404 Errors Today

As far as I understand, these are the issues:

1) TF.n made a DNS change for boards.theforce.net last night (according to Scott).

2) Anyone using any sort of ISA (Internet Security Accelerator) -- which includes most ISPs and most corporate proxy servers -- will be unable to reach the destination until sometime much later today or tonight.

I'm using my company's BACKUP proxy server which caches nothing at the moment, so that's where I'm coming from in how to get here vs. getting a 404 (which my company's main proxy gives me).

 

I wondered why I was the only one in JCC for over a half an hour this morning.

Then I couldn't get in for a while.

I'm still getting a 404. I can't open the JC at all.

I was actually starting to worry about my computer last night, I was trying to delete chached stuff, histories, etc. Glad to see it's nothing on my end

 

Seems to be over now

 

For some. I still have issues using accelerated proxies.

 

Whew! Once I found out that this wasn't on my end, I felt relieved. I tried everything I knew how to do and nothing worked.

 

Good to know it's over.

 

Not over yet for some. I've gotten about 4 document not founds trying to view and reply to this thread.

 

I still get them occasionally... it works fine for a little while, and then the error messages comes again.

For some, running ipconfig /flushdns from a command line will fix the problem. (Didn't help for me since my ISP's DNS server obviously doesn't have the new info).

I had luck adding the following line into my \Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file:

216.35.19.131 boards.theforce.net

I wouldn't leave it there permanently, but it will hopefully work until the DNS changes have propogated through the Internet (usually about 48 hours).

Your mileage may vary.

 

God Bless Firefox and SwitchProxy extension. I've been 404'd all day.

 

My access went down last night and continued thru this morning, so just gave up and went to work. glad you folks got it all sorted out, so far.......

 

I haven't been able to get to the boards from work all week long.
