All right, you mods had promised this censor wouldn't be one of those crappy auto-censors that changes the word assassin to the letters "in" preceded by six asterisks and whatnot. So what's up with this? I don't think the term ****sexual is profane, unless heterosexual is profane as well.

    well, thats an interesting one.

Um, its just being released today, and it won't be perfect yet. I don't think there's a need to exclude homosexual, its probably either a glitch, or a simple oversight.

I'll mention it in the approprciate thread in the MS :)

Like malkie said, it is just being put into effect today. Zero has been working very hard in recent weeks to get this up and running, so bugs should be expected as with anything. Give it some time and he will line it out.

I'm guessing that homo was one of the words that people at other message boards were concerned about. I'll ask him to take homo off our list. We should be able to say homosexual whenever we want.

In any case, there are ways for non-mods to get around the censor, as this post aptly demonstrates.

Just as a word of warning, please remember that our rules on language still apply. I know that there is a desire to test the limits of the filter, but that is no excuse to step outside the rules.

Apparently "****y" (if you can't guess the word due to the filter, it means arrogant) is offensive? Interesting. :)

Filters just give people a reason to test them.

I for one feel like we don't need this filter. All it is going to do is cause problems.

Hahaha, she means cockpit. I can say it cause the filter doesn't apply to mods.

    show-off

does anybody know why IGN always orders unnecessary useless stuff, instead of something more useful. Like... a flash movie of The Simpsons' Nelson doing "Ha Ha" on the banned screen...
    or correct sizes for images
    or...

I think that once the glitches are worked out, an auto-censor could really help the mods that dont have time to do massive searches (or whatever you mods do to find swears).

for example, to prevent ****pit from being starred out, they could put the starred out word with spaces infront and behind (like we do for markup codes) on the list of words to be starred out.

I think this filter's something we've needed for along time,IMHO. I'm glad zerosleep installed it. Now,once the bugs are worked out,it'll be great! :)
