Teen Titans The Movie

Just pulled this off of digg.com. Looks like Warner Brothers is making a Teen Titans movie.

To be honest it looks promising. Especially if they go with the direction Batman Begins has gone. The fact that a BSG writer is doing the script for this is definitely of interest to me. BSG tends to be dark and well developed. If this carries over to the movie that would be great. Now the question is which Titans do they go with, any ideas?

 

I can't see myself enjoying a mature teen titans film. I mean, isn't that a bit of an oxymoron? There are certainly some storylines they could do one with, but the animated fanbase isn't likely to hop on for this.





Oh, and when was Watchmen officially announced? I must've missed that one.

 

I haven't really been looking too close on Watchman, but it must have been recent for me to have missed it.

 

The last thing I remember hearing about it was that greengrass was involved but that they were still looking for a studio. That was in Wizard, must've been, a year ago at this point. Unless its like 3 hours long it will most likely suck. Which would make me very sad indeed.

 

Here's what I'm thinking for a team for the movie:

I prefer Kid Flash with Wally West, but thats just me. They might use Impulse to save Wally for a JLA movie.

These are just my initial ideas off the top of my head. I hesitate to name too many people for a team because then it could be too many character to follow. I would say you could get rid of Beast Boy and use Kid Flash for some comic relief, but I'd hate to see BB go. That and with him there they can cash in on the cartoon fans.

 

Teen Titans movie would be interesting, I don't think it has to be in the same vein as Batman Begins however. I see it being slightly lighter in tone. I hesitate to use it as an example as I'm not big fan of the first one, but I could see being more like the Fantastic Four.

 

I can see this working out.

 

The 80s Titans is somewhat famous for its "coming of age" storyline IIRC. You can create a 'mature' story out of that.

 

I know. I was thinking more from a marketing perspective. Will the people who go see a "teen titans" film be looking for a serious tone?

 

I think that depends a good deal on how the movie is represented in the trailer. If they can give it a serious tone that accurately represents the movie in the trailer people should know what they are getting into. The problem is that people are probably gonna confuse it with the cartoon. Personally I liked the cartoon just fine, but it was definitely geared towards younger kids whereas this movie should have the same darkness as Batman Begins.

Regardless though, I will see this movie and I'll be getting the Judas Contract DVD when it comes out too. I can put them with the first 3 seasons of the cartoon on DVD.

 

I'm actually a big fan of the current Titans team. Or at least, how it was a few years ago.

Robin (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark), Superboy (Conner Kent), Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg and Starfire. Good team IMO.

 

Yes, when the team reformed in the early 80's series, was a good arc, it was dark enough, and I could be wrong, but didn't that introduce Deathstroke? And I love Beast Boy crying every 15 seconds, "It's not Beast Boy! It's Changeling! Changeling!"
