Tek Expo 2002

Tulsa Fan Force had a display booth at this years Trek Expo. Each year the expo is put on by Starbase 21 a local comic/hobby shop.

On Friday night our group took Peter Mayhew and his wife to dinner. The Mayhew's were an absolutely enchanting couple. A great time was had by all in attendance.

The next morning the costume guys were allowed to escort Mr Mayhew onto the reserve section stage where they recieved a huge round of applause and many pictures were taken.

Our booth seemed to be the most popular non celebrity booth out there. I think we even beat out the UPN girls who were two booths down.

The guys in costume were mobbed for pictures including some of the stars coming to us to find us. When they were walking the floor they could not take 6 steps without someone wanting a picture.

Gary's R2 unit was a sensation as well. People could not get enough of it.

All in all a great weekend where Tulsa Fanforce got coverage on two TV stations and at least one news paper.

Did you say the UPN girls were two boobs down? hehehe! Just joking. It was lots of fun and good to see how much pub. we can generate. I have been challenged by Dena to come up with a costume by Def (sp?) Con. in a year and a half. I think I can do that. I just need to find out exactly what I want to do. Playing "dress up" as Brent said, is so fun!!

 

At was way cool. Dena was on the news last night, even i have had people saying" i saw your wife on the news" and she got quoted in the paper too about her leia costume. the "She's strong, beautiful and she kicks butt!" LOL

We did beat the UPN booth (was kinda shocked usually they are the big draw) We had Alan Ruck (Cameron from Ferris Bullers day Off), David Arket (sp?), and of course Peter Meyhew all stop by our booth and we got picture with each on of them.

Escorting Peter onto the stage was a HUGE honor for me and Dena both, we loved every second. And the audience seemed to enjoy it more then we did! ^_^

I can't wait for next year... we'll have Trek Expo AND Def Con!

 

Keith Hamilton Cob (Tyr from Andromeda) wandered by at one point as well. and I am sure there were others.

Was that in Monday's paper or Sunday's? We need to get a copy and scan it in to post. Start keeping a press kit so to speak.

 

She has two copies from people here at work. One for us, and one for the "Archives", after all "if its not in the archives, it doesnt exist". I think it was today because it was something she had said yesterday.

 

Yes, if we could get the pics and articles posted, that would be cool.

Also, since we are an offical FanForce can't we control how our boards are managed? I seem to remember there is a way to "up" the posts and change the look of the board itself. Can we get a "mod" to control that stuff? If we are going to move here, can we be as "informal" as we are on yahoo? I mean, are we worried about using peoples actual names or giving out #'s and e mail addresses? And we do kid around a lot, is that what we want everyone on the TFN to see? Not that I personally care, since lots of the jokes or teasing is pointed at me. I just don't want to lose the fun we have on yahoo. I think I will PM our rep guy.

Noooooooooooo, you didn't. Yes, they were messed up, but it's not your fault, that camera is a pain in the arse. Ed had more then enough shots of the same pictures so don't worry about it Billy. ^_^

I have a bit of video footage from the escort that I can pull stills from but those are all the pics I took this weekend for the most part.
