    These people shouldn't even have the legal rights to Star Wars anymore. Yes, it's their child, but when a parent abuses and beats their offspring, law enforcement usually comes in, takes them away, and puts them in a foster home. I'm tired of seeing the movies I love being sold with black eyes and bruises, while Lucas tries to explain away that they've walked into a door.

    I think more fans need to accept that he is no longer the creative, hard-working maverick film-maker that brought us the original Star Wars. He has little creative input now (even the name Jar Jar came from his kid) and has lost touch with what made the OT special.

    I'm afraid Lucas is not only lazy but he also doesn't CARE.

    He doesn't even care enough to hide the fact that he doesn't care.

    I sometimes wished that, that in a crisis of consciusness, Lucas somehow invited fans of any kind, (bashers, gushers, whatever), sit on a large table, and discuss the vision of Star Wars, hear their opinions, discuss ideas and in the end, he can still do his own thing if he likes to. I have some imagination, right?

    I bash because I'm sick of LFL and Lucas spouting out cow manure, and seeing my favorite franchise brought to its knees by people who just don't seem to give a crap. At my heart, I am and always will be a Star Wars fan.

    Oh - and he wanted evidence the DVD was rushed to market for money, where is that Lucas interview where he says he only is releasing the DVDs faster than he originally intended "just to get it out there, before piracy is too much of an issue (translation: money is lost)."

    Not true. That's an interpretation of the change. The "dies" is metaphorical only. And since the commentaries, Lucas has come back to say that he DOESN'T die in ROTS. And in fact, one interview is being leaked where he says that good Anakin is alive in Vader throughout the Original Trilogy - just like we've always known.

    Then why the Hayden change? Makes no sense at all. And, I believe, that while Hayden is on screen Lucas says on the commentary that he is there because Anakin died in Episode 3. Does this mean that Lucas LIED on his commentaries too? Millions of people bought these DVDs containing Lucas LYING about what the story is about.

    What makes the "green lightsaber" & other gaffes even more mind-numbing is when contrasted against the sheer class that oozes from ROTK:EE, in particular disc 4. After watching it, tell me if you honestly think PJ & crew would have let Aragorn wield a green sword of Elendil.

    ... nailed it right on the head- the world is a better place because those movies & discs were made. Once upon a time, Star Wars did the same thing. .

    All I expect from ROTS is some mildly entertaining effects sequences. The same as TPM and AOTC. Anything more will be an unexpected bonus.

    I look forward to finding out Sidious' masterplan and why Anakin turns, and I hope those elements are interesting.

    - From what I've read (including what someone talked about in a recent article on the official site - I think it was a piece about a Lucas interview in some magazine) these things are going to suck. In my opinion anyway.
    I know why Anakin turns: he is impatient, and he is seduced by the lure of power that the dark side promises. He takes the quick and easy path, and is lost.
    I know that because that is what is said in the OT.
    I also know that things in ROTS are going to be a bit different - in a way that I don't like.
    I also know what Sidious' masterplan is: he will simply rely on the incredible, complete, total, and utter stupidity of the Jedi, the politicians, Anakin, and the audiance. It worked in the other 2 episodes, and it looks like it will work again in this one.


    Yeah, I've sort of inadvertantly become an anti-CGI crusader without any real effort or intent. CGI itself is fine, and can be done tastefully and effectively. My gauge of this is when you learn later something was CGI and are impressed. LOTR had some good instances of this that were impressively subtle, like managing scale issues between Gandalf and the hobbits.

    This too without getting into the whole control-freak "I want a cast made entirely from CGI so I own all the characters forever and they never age, demand royalties, or give non-loving media interviews about me" thing that spawned Jar Jar

    Spielberg didn't saw that coming, I agree, but I recall him watching TPM in a private viewing and stating that "your chin is gonna fall on the ground". Actually, I remember the interview:

    Reporter: "So, what about your friend, George Lucas? His new Star Wars comes out this summer".
    Spielberg: "I watched it already and the only thing I can say is "Oh, my God"!"
    Reporter: "Oh, my God-bad" or "Oh, my God-good"?
    Spielberg: "I mean "Oh, my God, your chin is gonna fall on the ground"! I don't plan to release any of my movies 2 weeks before or after Episode:I is released".

    Now that I think of it, he didn't said if it was good or bad, he only said "your chin is gonna fall to the ground".

    Hehe, I can imagine many people here in the Sanctuary searching for their chin in the movie theatre after the end credits!

    Not to be an ass but... PPOR. Seriously this claim is so wildly ridiculous that I just have to call you on it. Prove this is true. (enas logikos se ena simpan paralogon ;) )

    I'm curious to know - in light of what we've heard and seen about ROTS, do you plan on seeing the film at all, and if so, how many times?

    Yes, and once or twice. Look, it can't be all that bad. We get to see the crappy AOTC Jedi get smacked around. That's worth one ticket alone. But if it really is a sequel to AOTC, I can't image I will be able to sit through more than two viewings, if that.


    I know but sometimes the hyperbole reaches levels that cause me to pull my hair out...

    I went to MF and saw some shots of Grievous in "action" there, then I looked at the shot of him in the link LSHB provided. At first I thought that even though the concept behind him was maddeningly illogical he might look cool. Well, that's clearly not the case. He looks so astoundingly silly and blatantly 90's era CGI that I can't help but laugh every time I see him. "The new face of evil?" More like the new face of unintentional comedy.

    And I'm still waiting for someone to provide a reasonable explanation as to how a non-Force sensitive cyborg could be the "greatest hand-to-hand Jedi killer the galaxy has ever known." Honestly, how does this swill get a pass?
