The only thing I know about my cable provider is that they've been giving us free cable for well over a decade.

They already have local monopolies, yes. But one big issue is how a TWC-Comcast giant with its market share can dictate content the way Texas can dictate the content of school textbooks. Both companies have already been in spats with media giants and this could make it even worse.

I think the solution is government. I think data to the home should be a government monopoly where bandwidth is sold to providers at cost. Then providers can sell phone plans, TV plans, and internet plans using the bandwidth they buy from the government.

Not a forced monopoly, to clarify. Cable companies should be allowed to retain their infrastructure and compete. Basically, I believe in a state phone company.

    I used my phone. Beware.pf.typos.

Yet another member of the list of people I make delivers to says AT&T is loved by someone they know and they will also switch when they get availability. Tomorrow is the big day. After installation I go to Comcast to drop off the box and pay them off, then off to AT&T to switch my phone, then off to Verizon to drop off the MIFI and pay them off their astronomical price that made me finally switch to begin with. I shall be free! FREE!

I don't even watch TV anymore. Unless there's like an X Files marathon or something.

NFL network is the only reason that several people I know keep Direct TV.

Verizon CEO wants to charge you more

"I think it is only natural that the heavy users help contribute to the investment to keep the web healthy," McAdam said.

They already charge too much, which is why I left. My internet bill is one fourth what it was at Verizon and it works perfectly.

Comcast's monopoly will work cause they can tell the studios to cut the rates or they are dropping it. its about leverage. What they should do also is build a separate network on the internet like Netflix has to capitalize on their content and make everything available that day. They could basically set up ala carte programing on the internet without much problem.
