    There are no in-jokes. In a science fiction classic, this woman says it to the main character as they're falling love. Which is the only time anyone ever says this sentence. So I don't really know why Ender is saying it to other men, or why anyone in this thread is saying it to me.

    So just because she says it to him as they're falling in love and it is the only documented case it means that it is a romantic proposition? Not just something that she was genuinely curious about? How does it even apply to anything romantic? I think you're putting this sentence into a very tiny, very specific box for no apparent reason.
