a chat room we were supposed to use for a club meeting at one of our member's Star Wars fan site wasn't working for all of us. So here we are

I could never get Zan's chat room to work, I tried downloading that Java thing and I still get nothing. I didn't realize my computer was at fault, I just thought Zan still had to get it functioning.

I need to get the elections started before I leave for Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday morning board time. Keep in mind the elections are for more then just ?President?.

• Here?s what I propose on the actual election process: Votes will be made to our Senator, Zebra3, through the PM system. She will post everyone?s vote on the thread once either everyone has voted or the time period ends, so everyone can see that there hasn?t been any funny business. And here is the list of people eligible for ?President? and eligible to vote:

  It?s based off of your length of time as a member and activity on the thread.
  
  Elections will be held for the ?President? and ?Senator? every four months at the same time. If one of them steps out of office or is kicked out, then an election for the empty position will be held right away. The new President or Senator will remain in that position for the remainder of the term. In order to be more fair, I propose that an elected person doesn?t have to give up their position until the elections after the immediate one, if they have been there for less the one and a half months. I?ve been told this is needlessly complicated and they should only have the position for the remainder of the term no matter the circumstances.




• Here is a prototype roster that Zandoran_Celix and EmperorSorridom have worked out. It's based loosely on the DS ranks from Dark Forces II--Jedi Knight. Feel free to express your thoughts on the matter.

  Dark Prince--second-in-command
  Primarch--third-in-command
  
  Master--higher-level member
  Knight--mid-level member
  Apprentice--lower-level member
  Initiate--entry-level member
  
  
  Every person gets rank, and some a personalized subtitle (tech specialist, scout, et cetera), and/or Honorary Position (Founder, Lady-Revanites Founder, et cetera).
  
  Each initiate is assigned a Master. The Master will petition the Dark Lord when they feel it is time for advancement to Knight or Master. Initiates will go through a series of questions to advance to an Apprentice. The questions will cover, Jedi/Sith lore, History on the KotOR era, History on Revan, and Revan strategy questions similar to those used by the computer console on Kashyyyk.
  
  -The only concerns I have are that Dark Lord and Dark Prince sound like a male. I wouldn?t change Dark Lord but I would make Dark Prince interchangeable with Dark Princess. And I also need to hear whether you think the Dark Lord should pick his or her own Dark Prince(ss) and Primarch or whether they should be voted on too.
  
  Jayd has already voiced that she feels the system is too dark when Revan was just as much a Jedi as a Sith Lord and I agree so were open to new suggestions as well.



• The last order of business is the creation of our own Website. Zan proposed the idea and I loved it. It would host the Roster for the Club as well as a list of everyone?s activity on the thread. We would put in things like Revan Fan Fics, Fan Art, galleries, collages and just about anything else Revan. We would also post pics and bios of our own Revans. I would leave it up to the President to decide who has control over the editing of the site.

That?s all I can think of at any rate. Be sure to let me know what you think on just about every topic. You?re free to propose changes to anything and add anything else you feel should be considered. Feel free to ask any questions as well. I WANT FEEDBACK, but I?ll only take it for a limited time. I want to start the elections by Wednesday to the latest. Keep in mind that I am trying to make an overall compromise for the finished product, so I will probably be unable to make everyone happy. Don?t worry; you?ll have the opportunity to vote for or against the individual systems. Thanks.

 

sounds good Valacar. Now that I look at the roster that we set up it does seem a little dark.

Perhaps we could substitute some of the ranks for something that doesnt sound so dark, but we need to try and atleast keep it Force user Orientated.

Also, not to nit pick, but I dont think that the Senator should be eligible for President/Dark Lord/Lady Unless there term is coming to a close.

 

I agree with Zandoran, we should have 3 leaders. The Dark Lord, President, and Senetor. When we do the initiate and higher questions, would they be a DS or LS point of veiw? Remember, tthe rakata computer chose DS, while revan can clearly be LS. Maybe when somebody asks the question, they should say something like: " LS point of veiw".

We might also want a "law" that says you cant be president/sentor 3 times in a row. once you do 2, let some other people go as president/senetor, then go back in for election for your old post. You could however, go from 2 term president, 2 term senetor, and then comeback and get re-elected for president. But for that to happen, you would have to be VERY popular. You must also temporarly resign your military post while you are a senetor or president.

We might also want to thin the numbers of canidates. this firsts vote would be the qualifiers. if a canidate gets 2 ore more votes( senetor and president will be seperate groups) they can go to the true election. This would help if some of our members vote for somebody that no one else votes for, but had a second choice that that person would like. it would be preety weird to win with 3 votes, wouldnt you agree?

what abilities does the military rank give? What rank do we all start in?

 

During normal elections, you cast a indiviudl votes for the President and the Senator. For instance:

"President"- Zebra3
Senator- Jayd

Ranking System- No
Website- Yes

Or something lke that. Everyone will be eligible for every position, but they can't have both. And you can vote for the same person to have both positions but you won't be able to vote for yourself.

DarthReven, the questions are only for the initiates and it doesn't really matter what the answer is, as long as they put forth some effort and show they are a fan of Revan. We're going to drop the military rankings. There were too many spoots to fill and laced organization. I like your rule limiting the number of terms. WE'll try the Election this way, if there isn't a clear victor then we'll vote again amongst the top candidates. Most of the people on the list will be Masters and others will be Knights.

Make sure you tell me things specificaly like:

I like the website idea, I like the Ranking System but you should change... , I don't understand how _______ will work with the elections, and I think we should have birthday celebrations.

edit: I forgot, there is the Revan before KotOR and there is the Revan during KotOR. The questions about Revan's strategy would be during the Mandalotian War when there is theoreticly 1 Revan and 1 path that he/she followed.

 

I think we could possibly remove one of the ranks- Apprentice, Knight & Master only is probably enough IMHO (plus the three others).

Perhaps the advancement questions should contain questions on recent happenings in the thread, to ensure that the prospective promotee is paying attention to the thing they want to be a member of. I don't post that much in there but I do read it all.

Perhaps we could have Dark Lord as the overall leader (since this is the Darth Revan fan club) then some lightsider rank as the 2nd (Jedi General maybe, since that is the role Revan filled in the Mandalorian wars) and the the Senator is the Primarch (though the only other place I've heard Primarch used is in WH40K, and in that they're supreme leaders of their space marine legions).

 

Yes, space marines kick but, especialy the Blood Angels! What will we do if we have a tie between canidates?
