You might already know this site, but Dave Leip's maps are fantastic and use the traditional colour scheme. The forum has a lot of great custom maps (like the one I posted).

Also, Stanford has a fascinating lecture series on Youtube about the geography of US elections. The professor uses Dave Leip's maps but he felt the need to invert the colours so people wouldn't be too confused.

For the uber geography nerds among you, you might be interested in my recent blog post on some of the geographic curiosities of Wisconsin.

 

It's a city council initiative, we took a thermal image of the city last winter to raise energy awareness, then created a website for everyone to see how their house stacked up. It's interesting, but I don't think it's very useful.

Notice how in East Germany, Die Linke seems to be the biggest party ... (and if you could get a close up of Berlin, which I could find, you'd see the difference also runs through West & East Berlin, alongside the wall really).

For those that don't know, Die Linke is the German far-left party, which does have remnants of the old SED in it.

Strange ... isn't it.

 

This should strike you as odd but about half of albany are patriot fans and the other half are giants fans with the steeler fans thrown in. But very few bills fans compared to syracuse.
And for baseball its yankees or Boston. And mets fans are just shunned.
