Inspired by that revised world map, I decided to make one for the U.S., assigning the states with the largest populations to the states with the largest land areas (I've excluded water area, which may or may not be a good idea; Minnesota is considerably smaller without its lakes, making Massachusetts appear to have a larger population than it really does).

    Some interesting coincidences:

    -Texas doesn't move.
    -Missouri doesn't move.
    -Mississippi doesn't move.
    -Ohio swaps places with Nevada.
    -Nebraska swaps places with Indiana.
    -Michigan swaps places with Colorado.

Intriguingly, the Carolinas and Dakotas maintain correct orientation, and I like that West Virginia takes over Virginia.

Road House? No. It's The Assassination of Jesse James or it's nothing.

I was commenting on the fact that the countries in which Facebook is the most popular comprise a greater surface area and proportion of the world's population than the British Empire, the largest empire ever. I can't figure out what you mean, though. And you made me explain a (characteristically lame) joke, so I hate you.

    lol at Rocket Boys.

There's so many worse associations West Virginia could have ended up with. You wouldn't believe how many people associate "Deliverance" with the Mountain State.

It's dark in Utah. Colour me surprised.

Would be interesting to see states and cities overlaid on that.

This map is incredibly awesome and brilliant, but it's making my brain hurt. The orientation is way off, and there's something funny happening with the British Isles--no, the entire western half... arrrgh I don't get it! :_|

Ah, so I can. I find that SW corner of georgia, SE corner of mississippi the oddest. That seems centered on something.
