Do i just put in the number as normal? or do they have their version of our +44? and if so do i knock of the first number like we do when using it?

Well, the number is programmed into the phone's Sim Card, so the +44 should stay the same. I'm not sure though...

+44 is the international code for the UK you need to knock of the 0 and add the US international dialing code I think.

The international dialing code for America is 01, so I assume that if you put that infront of the mobile number, it should get there.

But then, would you need an international dialing code for a mobile??

Try it anyway, see what happens.

No, we have an extra number which has to be taken out, whenever I have called the US or Canada it is just adding the 001 to the rest of the number but not taking anything out.

I had major problems sending txt to America - ie it wouldn't work. I am guessing it depends on the US network (the problem one for me was Virgin would you believe it), so I can't suggest anything sorry :(
Virgin had a weird alternative where you could email a US mobile (so no charge to you) but cut the message real short - like two words.

I always thought that on a mobile it was +1 xxx xxxxxxx

I've txt in America back here doing +44 and I never had any problems doing, so I'm assuming it should work going the other way.
