TF.N Books' "tidbits" on Dark Journey.

I don't think that they would have Jaina kill herself in a paperback. However, for more minor characters, it isn't outside of the realm of possibility. Star Wars draws from classical literature, and classical literature is full of people who get depressed and kill themselves.

 

Maybe someone only contemplates suicide.

 

Well, all of them seem to fit what we have heard so far about Dark Journey. I will be MAD if she becomes Kyp's apprentice, but it is looking more and more likely (sob). The only hint which slightly bothers me is Suicide...could it be Tahiri? I hope not!

 

Crap... I've been reading these books to my eight-year-old brother for years. What the hell am I gonna do now?!

 

8 year old brother? I would think the NJO would give the poor kid nightmares.

 

Here's my theory;

Darkness; the point, no matter how short or long, where Jaina falls to the Dark-Side.

Apprenticeship; Jaina takes Kyp up on his offer to take the fight to the Vong, but not until the end of the book.

Misinformation; While on Hapes, Jaina's mission(for lack of a better word)goes the wrong way, like the attack at Fondor early on.

Children; Not just the Solos, the Skywalker, or the Horns, but all the Jedi children. Possibly their relocation to the Jedi Planet.

Family Ties; Jaina turns away from her family after Jimmy's death.

Assasination; Part of Jaina's "mission"

Fire; Jimmmy's body is burned or can't be recovered because of a fire.

Death; Jaina grapples with the death of Jimmy

Suicide; Another main character can't die so soon after Jimmy, so I think it might be a part of Jaina's "mission". Like she investigates a SUICIDE, that she believes to be an ASSASINATION.

 

Darkness = Dark Side of Force

Apprenticeship = Tenel Ka being Jaina's apprentice

Misinformation = Hapans hiding Jaina from the rest of the galaxy

Children = Vong begin stealing children in their grahm cracker spaceships.

Family Ties = Solo/Antilles connection

Assasination = Nom Anor is involved in it

Fire = anything relating to war

Death = dido

Suicide = Jaina tried and failed

 

Maybe misinformation means someone will feed us a false spoiler...

 

The only obvious hint of the bunch is the "family ties" hint.

Apparently a short, eternally youthful man joins rogue squadron under the alias of Alex P. Keaton. Unfortunately a mission gone wrong will render his hands useless for future missions but he is very influential in the battle of kuat earning him the newly minted Kuatian Defense medal.

He later travels back in time several times attempting to correct mistakes made at a dance after the battle of endor. Long story, but basically interventon makes a certain ewok attract leia instead of han and the trio of uber-jedi is never born.

 

Yeeeah... oooookaaay... sure...

A new Jedi Master, Zippo Rancissus is introduced. Like Vergere, he has ties to the Jedi Council of old through his relative Oppo Rancissus.

Death
The type of threats that Troy Denning is likely to get from insane fanboys.

Suicide
Business suicide. What Del Rey may have done with a major event in SbS.

Your brother has been 8 for years? Sounds like an X-File to me.

These tid-bits are so vague. We could come up with the most ridiculous scenarios and make them fit. But I will tell you this: if it turns out that Jaina is committing suicide, then the Solo's become the GFFA's perfect Springer family. And that's not a good thing.

 

Jaina's a major character. She can't die in a paperback. If she dies, it'll be in a hardcover...

Darkness: Jaina will turn to the dark side.

Apprenticeship: Jacen will be shaken by Jimmy's death and return to finish his training. Luke with the birth of Ben and coordinating the Jedi will be to busy to train Him. Kyp will make peace with Luke and agree to train Jacen.

Misinformation: Han and Leia desperate to get Luke his "Great River" will heed the advice of Viqui Shesh and suggest Luke look to Hapen space. The Vong will be waiting

Children: Luke, Mara and Corran will follow Han and Leia's advice and head for Hapen Space with the jedi children

Family Ties: Jacen being Jaina's twin (and closer to her than anyone) will feel compelled to save his sister from the power of the Darkside and the Hapens.

Assassination: Kyp agrees with Jacen and goes with his new apprentice, but Kyp more then anyone knows the pull the darkside has on the ones it controlls and is prepared to kill Jaina if Jacen fails. Also the Hapens are after Jaina in vengence of what the Jedi did at Centerpoint and a dead planet called Reboam.

Fire: Jacen will fail, and Kyp and Jaina will have an Obi-Wan, Anakin experience only Jacen interfere and Kyp will fall into the fire.

Death: Everyone thinks Kyp dies in the fire, but (don't tell anybody) he doesn't.

Suicide: Tahiri will see a "vision" of the one who dies in SbS and will commit suicide saving the Jedi children from the Vong

As I have spoken so shall it be.

Apprenticeship - Elaine Cunningham takes on KJA. This leads to ...

Children - The red star destroyer will be involved.

Family Ties - My guess is the Fel / Antilles connection. Wedge seeing his sister before he can die in Allston's duology.

Assassination - Borsk Fey'la. By Myn Donos with a nightstinger rifle standing on a grassy knoll ...

Fire - You can bet I like this one (Maybe the CSA invents the Galaxy Fryer).

Death - Someone died in any NJO book yet. Because it is mentioned explicitly it could mean a natural death. Pellaeon. So the Empire can come back bad.

Suicide - Tahiri. Lowbacca.

A few thoughts...

Dark Jaina ****s up massively, and realises that the Dark Side won't stop the Vong...

Wouldn't it be ironic if Kyp had to bring her back to the light side?

Tenal Ka turns out to really be Luke's child after all. Teniel Djo (sp? different name? i forget) got him good and drunk at one of their reunions on Dothomir, while Isuldur was off on Hapes.

Assassination
Jaina assassinates T.K. as a favor to Luke, so Mara won't find out about his other child. (Man this is starting to sound like a soap opera)

Fire
A big barbecue - The assassination tool. Plus Ewok burgers.

Death
The all-powerful Leuitennant Kettch finally bites the dust after heroically serving himself up as the main course at the barbecue (see Fire).

Suicide
Kettch - he throws himself into the fire
Jaina - after finding out that Kettch is actually the father, not Kyp
Kyp - after finding out that an Ewok . . . Never mind

 

Maybe the family ties are between her and Leia. There is some residual bitterness towards hermother and she might have a part to play in getting Jaina back from the darkside. Just a thought...
