    Surely that's from frame interpolation?

I haven't had that experience with mine, and find the fantasy experience to be much more enthralling with the increased realism and definition. I watched Guardians of the Galaxy when I first brought mine home, and this is on a BR upgrade, which is about 80-85% of full 4K, and I was absolutely stunned at the look; like nothing else I have ever seen on a TV (I didn't even much like the movie, I'm talking about the visuals). I also find nature scenery to be amazing, as the colors are so much more vivid and real. Mine also has the feature of 3D in 4K, and the 3D was also better than the other that I had seen in 1080P.

It might be a good idea to look at some different things on the 4K TV rather than the stuff they normally play in the displays. Also, I would look at a top notch Sony or Samsung.

OK, now I'm really confused. This article says it has been removed from the website, but in fact, it hasn't. I even made a few clicks and added it to a cart. Anyone have an explanation?

Edit: I think I understand- they have it for order "when released," but they took the date down, which appears to have been a leak.

Bluray.com still has it listed for April 5 and they're usually pretty reliable. Thanks to everyone for the feedback on 4k TVs. It sounds worth it.

It's wishful thinking but it'd be nice if one of the extras was a Rogue One teaser trailer.

So, I saw the Blu-ray/DVD combo release of TFA - that will be coming out in April. It doesn't look like it's getting a DVD-only release, though - unless I missed something. This is fine with me, since I only buy Blu's anyway - and if someone only has a DVD player, that will come with this as well.

I'm guessing it's from the high-framerate "cinema mode" (or whatever each manufacturer calls it) that doubles or triples the framerate. I hate it. It makes every movie look like a TV show.

Yeah, I was helping my former brother-in-law pick out a TV a couple of years back. The clerk at the store wanted to sell in the "cinema mode" or "smooth motion" functions as the best thing about every. Single. TV.
My brother-in-law didn't know what it was, so he left the talking to me. I told the clerk that he didn't want that function - especially if it made the TV more expensive. I told him that I work in the film business, so I know framerates, and that those functions are actually degrading the image quality.

    I swear, the clerk looked at me as if I had insulted his mother! 8-}

As my ex once put it: "Why do all new TVs make every movie look like 70s soft porn?" :p

Reminds me of the time I overheard a sales person persuading a buyer to spring for the three-times-as-expensive gold plated connectors because they made everything 'sound' better. I tried to explain that a thin layer of gold plating would have no effect at all on the sound quality, and that the gold was on there strictly for corrosion abatement. They both looked like they wanted to kill me.

How do they get away with calling it 'cinema mode' when it's the opposite of what is done in the film business? I'll never puzzle that one out. A Real Cinema Mode would be a 24fps rate, not 60.

SWNN says that Disney requested they remove the release date.

Disney is claiming ownership on a date on the calendar. They think they own time.

I highly doubt that. That would turn a lot of people off the entire industry.

Yeah, it was that level of technology in DivX that bankrupted Circuit City.

The backlash would be too damaging. People wouldn't (and shouldn't) stand for it.

If anything, netflix like services will expand. That's what's happened to music, yet you can still buy an album if you want.

Call me old fashioned, but unless it’s supposed to be invisible (like credit for your phone), I like to physically hold something that I buy. I like books and DVDs. When are invisible clothes coming out?

But the idea that they will try and eradicate the buying of films altogether so you have to pay each time you watch them is ludicrous at best.

Was it really that long ago? :(

    :p

Circuit City created DixV to compete with DVD. The discs were cheaper, but you had to pay every time you played the disc. The player had to be connected to a phone line so it could access your account. The player would call an account server over the phone line to charge for viewing fees similar to the way Direct Tv and Dish satellite systems handle pay-per-view.
