Nathan, the options page might look great to you because it is green, but the images are from LAST YEAR'S THEME. If you check, you'll find that page (along with the Post Reply) has a theme setting of "5010 - stpatrick" and not what it should be: "5063 - StPaddy_2002".

Please don't try and explain the technical aspects of Internet Explorer's caching mechanism. I lose the ability to balance on my chair.

 

I like the colors.

Good job on the banner too. I like how it shows the effects of heavy drinking with the two Obi Wans.

 

So why do the boards change on St. Patricks day? Can anyone give me a reason? This Site/boards serve a worldwide Community, members of which all have some sort of annual festivites which are very important to them. Why are their days not celebrated with colour changes? Seems like this question is asked every year but never answered.

I agree is there a certain reason why St Patricks day is celebrated, but something like St Andrews Day isn't?

 

Because St. Patrick's Day is a popular holliday in America and this is an American founded web site run by Americans, for the most part. Probably not the answer you wanted.

oh, and imagine this shocking scenario if you will: a small child, age 6 is posting here in the JCC, in the "I got my first kiss today and i am 23!!!!" thread, while his parents/caregivers are out riding the local slots.........he/she loves starwars, and St George Lucas, a feeling which his/her parents/caregivers share, given the G nature of Star Wars and its associated products......thats why they let their child browse such a fansite as this, without any responsible adult supervision and regardless of legal obligations..
Anyway, while posting, the small child looks up at the banner, and sees the happy Irish themed colours, and thinks "my, what a happy, delightful people the Irish are"......then he/she sees the Guiness glass, foaming with sweet, dark, rich beer, overflowing with yeasty stout goodness........

short term result: he/she now associates the happy irish, star wars, and the internet with beer

longterm result: child grows up with a terrible racial stereotype of the irish, and an urge to shout lewd and inapproiate things at the screen while watching star wars, and spills beer over the keyboard.....

 

Sounds like me. What's the problem?

 

Turn the UK board green! They need a little St. Patrick's Day spirit. They're all grumpy in there.

Plus it'd be funny to hear the screams.

actually with or without my glasses these colours are really bad, and gives me trouble seeing. So thats my excuse for bad spelling this weekend

 

Well, the beer companies milk it(Apparently, today is SPD Eve. In no way a way to sell more I'm sure). Maybe TF.N will start selling too?

CA: Probably because the people who don't log on on the day itself want to see the banner all the same, so if they miss it by one or two days they still get to see the banner instead of complaining that they missed it.
