Everyone already knows that Palpatine and Sidious is the same person but I thought this blunder was quite funny anyway...

In the Aotc extra material, I think it was in the comments of the extra scene - the trial. One of Lucas co-workers says something like, "We didn't want the audiences to know if Dooku was really evil until he meets with the emperor"

According to the movies, Dooku meet Sidious and here we hear that he is the emperor.

That's not a blunder. Like you said, we already all know.

How does that reveal anything? He says Emperor, not Supreme Chancellor, and the name Palpatine is never mentioned in the OT.

Palpatine - he is not young

Lucas also said that they were the same person on TPM's commentary.

the name Palpatine is never mentioned in the OT.

Neither is the word Ewok. Boba Fett's name wasn't uttered until ROTJ.

The name Palpatine is in the ROTJ novel (and the AHN novel written by Lucas himself). So much SW information comes from sources other than the movies that I think Lucas expects fans to know it.

True but we know the Supreme Chancellor takes over and declars himself Emperor. We know that Palpatine is the Chancellor. We know the Emperor is a Sith Lord. In ROTJ the Emperor is a Sith. It's pretty easy to draw the conclusion. That and they are both played by the same actor.

DarthJohnkenobi: Of course we know that Palpatine is Sidious. That's been obvious since Sidious first appeared in TPM. I was thinking more about the general public. They don't know squat about who Palpatine really is and they still don't know, because comments like this don't really reveal anything, aside from the fact that Sidious is some sort of Emperor.

    "Palpatine" begins with a "P"

they know if they read the back of TPM on video, where it says something like "palpatine, well known as the evil emporer is a young politician"

    therefore emporer=sith=sidious=palpatine

i dont really think people arent meant to know this

the prequels are just done in a way to show how the jedi & every1 else at the time didnt work it out, i think the audience are meant to know.

Yea, my parents are still confused by the two. Haven't really put it all together yet.
