I was wondering if we wanted to do something to commemorate the 10th anniversary of TPM.

The Phantom Menace...ten years ago this May. Wow. Funny how time slips into the future.

Doing SOMETHING to mark its first decade?

Well we could all dress up as Darth Maul and hang out at the parking lot of the movie theater. Call it the - Episode One Ticket Line Re-inactment Party. You know to really confirm for the general public just how dEvOtEd we are. Oh and while we're at the movie theater we should scream, "WE LUUUVVV THE BINKS!"

    Yeah. Fun times. Really.

With this anniversary, and the release of Fanboys, I've been reflecting on 1999.

How cool was the trailer? I rember going to see some crap movie JUST for the trailer.

I remember going to Showplace and waiting in line. I kept saying "Wow, everyone here is in line for Meet Wally Sparks?" (It was funny to me).

I enjoyed it then, and I enjoy it now. I still think it was better than Jedi, but I'd be dishonest if i said I wasn't disapointed (find the Patton Oswald clip on you tube, and that pretty much sums it up).

    Thanks Stacky!

It got funnier and funnier every time I said it (which was a lot).

Anyone else get spoiled by the Soundtrack? (track 11: death of Qui Gon)

Ah yes, I think it was Qui-Gon's Noble End and Qui-Gon's funeral.

Kyla and I both worked at the theater at the time. We worked the night that tickets went on sale. (I believe that was the night everyone camped out.) She tells the story about a guy coming up to the window to ask to use the restroom. He had long (almost girlishly so) hair, looked like he hadn't shaved in a few days, and was wearing a SW t-shirt (of course) and a "trench-coat mafia" coat. She describes him as kind of creepy.

That fall, she started at UE. One of the people in her orientation class was this same long-haired geek. I didn't think anything of it until I befriend a long-haired geek in my History class.

Turns out the creepy guy is our very own Nathan Wheatley.

I think he cut his hair before the Club started. If you want a laugh, though, ask to see his driver's license. I don't think he's updated the picture since.

The first of many TPM tickets to be bought by Darth_TKD, I'm sure...
