Arguments? I know Biggs was supposed to be awesome, but we didn't see him do that much and Tyria survived a lot and was still flying in LotF.

I would come up with my own but I'm tired.

 

I'm leaning Biggs, if it helps get us any arguments ...

Tyria certainly has more experience than Biggs, but not all that much. She had under a year of mixed flying and ground missions that we've seen, and then up to four more years of the same sort of missions that we haven't seen and can't really say what they entailed. After that, she'd retired because of Doran. She then shows up thirty years later to fly in a battle or two for the Jedi. That's all we have. Biggs had a shorter career -- recreational flying as a kid, training under Fel, and a relatively brief but action-packed stint in the Rebel Alliance. Tyria has the edge here, but not a massive one.

The Force? Tyria has it, minimally, and Biggs doesn't. We don't know much else about her connection, and haven't seen it much in use, but it's there.

But the area where I think the big difference is is skill. Tyria never does anything really exceptional in the air in all the books, as far as I can tell, and she's always been a bottom-rank trainee (she needed remedial training, and wouldn't have passed that without Repness "adjusting" her scores -- rightfully, she never should have been a New Republic pilot) and a bottom-rank Wraith pilot. Biggs, on the other hand, has always been exceptional. He was a great bush pilot who was as good as Luke Skywalker, he was one of the stars of Fel's much-praised Prefsbelt class, and he was a great Rebel pilot who impressed the heck out of Wedge Antilles and picked up five kills in his first engagement and went on to survive several more hairy early-Rebel engagements before Darth Vader killed him when he was acting as a human shield for Luke. Wedge, Luke -- everyone around him agreed Biggs was good. Biggs has the skills edge far and away, and I think that pure skill in the cockpit counts for a lot more than Tyria's smaller experience and Force advantages. If they were both on an even playing field for skill, and one had more experience, that would be a tiebreaker, but I don't think middling experience like Tyria's can tip the scales all the way back to her side here.

Put more simply, Wedge Antilles has flown with Biggs and with Tyria. If he were asked which of the two he'd want flying on his wing, is there any doubt the answer would be Biggs?

 

Those were basically my thoughts, as well, so I'll make it official and vote for Biggs

 

Once Havoc posted his arguments I was hard pressed to find any faults with it (expecially since I was still doing research to find some)

I have to conceed this matchup to Biggs.

You're right, idk what I did there. I've fixed it.

 

Shawnkyr, fairly easily. Anakin very easily.

And I'm going with Jacen. Straight up, he's much much better than either of the two in that trump. And, the trump isn't that much more than the sum of its parts. It's not like we're talking lifelong wingmates or siblings, or a great Force bond or anything like that. Jacen's always been good at evasive maneuvers, and I have no doubt he can do that long enough to vape one of them, and then once it becomes one-on-one, he's not losing.

 

In the interest of moving this along (and I'm home now so I'll be on daily for sure), I'm grudgingly voting for Jacen.
