Worked open to close today, doing the same tomorrow.

I *might* be able to get something real up on Sunday, but I'd doubt it.

My argument for my team hasn't changed much. After the top two, I've got the next best five (or so) pilots. Depth in the middle could make up for awesomeness up top.

I'm less convinced on this one than I was on the last one, but that's because I'm in the camp that thinks Vader/Anakin work VERY well together in this kind of draft. But, if you're a judge who doesn't and thinks there will be a very tough time working together, that kind of opening gives my team the chance it needs to win.

The most important thing I feel is that Darth Vader is responsible for the death of Padme, something that I don't believe Anakin would ever forgive him for. I also think that Anakin would be appalled at some of the things that Vader had done or let happen.

But it's not like Vader is an entirely different villain who came in and murdered Anakin's wife. Anakin Skywalker killed Padme Amidala. Anakin Skywalker decided it would be worth it to become the apprentice of Darth Sidious in order to save his wife, decided it meant establishing a new Empire to rule alongside her, decided it meant turning his back on the Jedi to the point that he became paranoid of Obi-Wan Kenobi turning Padme against him. Because of this she says "Anakin, you're breaking my heart!"

Padme Amidala literally died of a broken heart. Anakin Skywalker is the one who broke it.

That's why he hates himself.

Now if you want to say that Anakin died in the Chancellor's Office with the rise of Vader, well...okay. First of all, I would totally disagree. Of course there's Obi-Wan saying it's true that Vader "killed" Anakin, from a certain point of view. But-- and this is from one of the biggest Kenobi mancrushers on the planet-- Obi-Wan was full of ****. So was Yoda. That was the entire point of Return of the Jedi, nay the entire point of Star Wars. Everyone thinks that Anakin is gone, that Vader is a monster that needs to be killed or "the Emperor has already won." Everyone except for Luke. Instead of burying his feelings, instead of ignoring attachment, he throws away his lightsaber and declares that he's a Jedi, like his father before him. His father who he considers his father no matter what he's done or what he's made of. His father who he screams for while he's being electrocuted by the Emperor. His father who steps in and saves him, and the galaxy.

If you still think he died in that office though, even then, if Anakin is "dead" at that point, then he doesn't "live" to see Padme's death, and he doesn't know who killed her, or even for that matter if she's dead. The only thing he's going to sense when dropped into this battle is another version of himself in another fighter, fighting on his side, just full of much more anger. Which is something he has never, ever had a problem with, and is actually likely to make him perform better.

I suppose you could say, for purposes of the draft, that Anakin "died" in the Chancellor's Office but then allow him to "come back" in RotJ, that way he does know Padme died but he's not the one on Mustafar. Ignoring the fact that this basically claims that, instead of a tragic hero, Anakin literally has a clinical DI disorder with Vader as a complete separate personality, and that it also kind of ruins the idea of him as a human being redeeming his mistakes, there's several problems with this too.

1.) If Anakin "came back" and Vader "disappeared" by virtue of Luke's actions in RotJ, what happens when Anakin in the match-- an Anakin who has seen the love of his son to the point of abandoning the Dark Side-- simply gets on his fighter's comm and tells Vader what's up? Anakin is arguably at his most mature and loving at this point, so rather than fly into a blind rage against his teammate in Vader-- risking the lives of OTHER people he loves, like Ahsoka Tano, Odd Ball, even his own grandchild in Anakin Solo-- what's stopping him from, if not outright sucking it up and working with Vader, at least trying to convince Vader to not be such a meanie as they go try to defeat their enemies?

2.) And, uh...what's Vader gonna say? Who better to persuade him on anything than...himself? It's not like Vader's incapable of seeing the light here. He kind of actually did in the canon (and the guy persuading him here is...the same guy who was also there at that exact moment).

3.) And let's say it does happen, then...well, then what happens to Vader? Does he "morph" back into this Anakin personality? So there's two Anakin Skywalkers in the battle? Does he magically disappear from the entire battlefield, eliminating his own existence?

4.) But if he doesn't do that for some reason, even after assuming and ignoring all of that stuff, if he just bolts off to get this quasi-revenge on Vader...doesn't that turn him to the Dark Side? In which case...wouldn't he turn back to Vader agai
