See, the thing is, the number one spot was not meant as a prize. It's a punishment. The prize is the colors and the guaranteed spot in the next draft. The number one position was meant to level the playing field.

ship... i don't think should count. it's just so freaking weird.

and honestly? it's made how many people look silly? do we really want something like him introduced into this?

 

It is a real character from the books and has been seen dog fighting with quite a few prominent pilots.

 

then we've got a new first rounder since he's made jaina and luke look bad. and multiple jedi, etc.

 

jacen did that once and over a very short period of time. ship has done it more than once over a bit longer amount of time.

but my reasoning for not wanting him in is what luke said. he isn't sentient, he's a construct along the lines of a holocron. there are no other automatons in this that i know of. i mean, one could suggest that drafting slave 1 (or is it II?) should be draftable since it's got a computer that let's it essentially dogfight on it's own. what's the difference?

That said, I personally wouldn't put Ship on the list. In the end, it really is just a thing. A construct. On the other hand, as I don't particularly care, hey, whatever.

 

Well as a construct doesn't it break most of the ways that we determine a winner with breakdowns, or even how it'd fit within a team dynamic.

 

Ship acts independently of its pilots and (ostensibly) can act on its own accord, choosing to work with certain people, fight other people, etc.

Obviously, you would want to draft ship on a force-strong team...but I like have it in the draft. Shake things up a bit!

 

again, it's basically a holocron. it can't act outside of it's programing, which is to find and train sith or to follow the will of a strong darkside user. that would suggest that, in this case, if you did NOT have it on a team with vader, jacen or lumiya then it wouldn't do bugger all for your team, and might actively hinder it. because doing anything ELSE is outside of it's prerogatives. it CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE.

again, how is this different from a droid or AI that has limiters on it's instructions a la slave 1/2/3/4? or any other ship with the same thing? we don't allow that, why should we allow this? that's all i'm saying.

anyway, whatever.

 

I agree with Trim. If we add Ship we may as well add some droid tri-fighters, or LE-BO2D9.

 

don't forget artoo detoo jello. he's had to fly stuff before. technically any astromech can.
