So, it's that time of year again, when a young man's thoughts turn to his favorite thing in thw world, baseball. The season is upon us, and this one promises to be a doozy. The defending National League Champions are entering their final season at the old Busch Stadium, and expecations are soaring. Some stories that are around:

    -Is Mulder the answer?
-Are the Cards better or worse with the moves that they had made?
-Can Isringhausen rebound from a disappointing spring?
-Will the Cards stay injury free?

Of course, there are many more questions, but they can wait. It would rock if they can repeat, and here is the place to chronicle the road towards another Pennant (and hopefully more!). BTW, they won tonight 7-3 over the Astros. :p

Did we get rid of Rolen? I haven't been keeping up.

    Go Cubbies!

I do have Edmonds and Carpenter on my fantasy league team, so you might catch me cheering them on occasionally. :D

Christian, we'll have to go to a game together.

    We lost:

    Woody Williams (P)
    Mike Matheny (C) :_|
    Steve Kline (P)
    Edgar Renteria (SS)
    Tony Womack (2B)
    Kiko Calero (P)
    Danny Haren (P)

    We got:

    Mark Mulder (P)
    Mark Grudezelank (Sp?) (2B)
    David Eckstein (SS)

We brought up Yadier Molina to be the starting catcher for fulltime, and brought guys like Al Reyes to fill out our bullpen. So our starting lineup is:

    1.) David Eckstein
    2.) Larry Walker
    3.) Albert Pujols
    4.) Scott Rolen
    5.) Jim Edmonds
    6.) Mark Grudezelank
    7.) Reggie Sanders
    8.) Yadier Molina

With a starting pitching staff of:

    1.) Mark Mulder
    2.) Chris Carpenter
    3.) Matt Morris
    4.) Jason Marquis
    5.) Jeff Suppan, IIRC

I think it's a good team overall, myself. I'd say we have a good a shot as anyone in the League right now, although I would watch out for San Francisco, Florida, and the NY Mets...

EDIT: Christian, we'll have to go to a game together.

    Amy, that would seriously rock!

    Wha wha wha?!

I've got tickets for a Cubs/Cards game in September. That's a long way off, so I would love to hit a game or two before then.

Tonight it is Marquis againest Pettitte.

Marquis is one of two Cards that is on my fantasy team. (Mulder being the other).

I think the score will be something like 5-2 or 8-5 with the Cards pulling off the sweep.

The bullpen is a little bit of a concern for me this year. No Kline, no Calero. What LaRussa was doing last night not having King warmed up and ready when Garner brought in Lamb to hit is beyond me. It was the 8th inning and 2 lefties were still in the pen. 1 run off Andy freaking Pettite didn't please me too much either. Oh well, opening day tommorrow - I'll be there! Anyone else going?

Cards won today 6-5 with a 3 run 8th inning.

Mulder had a rough outing but calmed down the last inning or two.

Issy did an alright job closing tonight, he's making progress.

It's too bad Edmonds didn't do anything for me today. :D I've managed to stay in 1st place for a few days in Fantasy...but I might slip back if Edmonds doesn't pick it up a bit.

I don't know what happened in the game for sure, since I was working, but didn't Izzy load the bases before closing it out? I figured it would be a classic Izzy outing. :p

They lost again. Suppan didn't do to well but Diaz messed up like 3 times. One of which gave the Phillies 3 runs.

Final: 10-4 in favor of the Phils. Cards scored 3 runs in the 9th.

I got tickets to the game tonight! It was awesome, I was even under the overhang so I didn't get rained on. It was a great game, got to see Jimmy's 1500th hit, a home run appropriately enough. And we won 5-1, which was uber sweet. Unexpected ball games rock.

Come on Dajuan, you weren't actually supposed to post here. We were leaving it alone so it would look like Christian was just talking to himself.

Beltran had one good season last year, I want to see him have a dominant streak like Albert is having for a few years before I say he's one of the greatest players ever. He was a real pain last playoffs though...
