Some players are still coming in from the NHL, so we'll have to wait for the official rosters.

But go Canada, as always! :p

But we already have Gaborik, Demitra and Satan confirmed! [face_dancing] So it looks pretty hopeful - and it's about bloody time we scraped a medal; last year's IHWC was dreadful for us... :p

    GO SLOVAKIA!!! =D=

Sweden defeated Italy easily by winning with 7-1. I'm mostly happy about Tony MÃ¥rtensson scoring a goal since he had a very hard time during the final games of the Swedish Elite Leage play offs.

Still, I wonder about the goaltending. Backlund can make astounding saves but also give up easy goals. Anyway, Monday's game should be interesting.

    Final score Slovakia - Norway: 3 - 0  [face_dancing]

It was to be pretty much expected, but our new goalie Jaroslav Halak was pretty good, considering that this is his first World Championship. Also it came as a rather big surprise that, apart from one exception, none of our players was sent off! :D

We're up against Germany on Monday, and I suppose it should be a relatively easy win as well...

Well, Jonathan Toews was pretty good at the World Juniors and the goaltending is decent, although both of them went downhill this year compared to last. The second goal Roloson let in was awful. The big person that's clearly missing is Crosby but of course he's in no shape to play.
Halak was a pleasant surprise for Montreal when their goalie, Huet, had injury problems.

Yes it was Norway.. And they played pretty well, all things considered.

That's the downside to being Canada: EVERY team gets up for the games against you.

We've gotten the W's so far, and we're starting to see signs of the team gelling from a chemistry perspective.

I know alot of people diss this tournie because the 'best' players aren't there, but i actually prefer having the 'non-allstars' here. You don't have all the egos, thus guys accept their rolls more readily.

Course, word now is that Dion Phaneuf is on his way out to join the team. What a boost to the blueline that'll be!
