Yeah, that was a pretty entertaining game between Canada and Slovakia. I can't believe the talent that the Slovaks hae over there!

Biggest surprise of the tournie is how well Jonathan Toews has been playing for Canada. The Hero of the World Jr. tournament is looking like he may be NHL-ready already!

Not that big of a surprise but yeah he's a star in the making. Chicago might be seeing better days in the near future. :p

I was banned for 48 hours. ;) Hence the lack of my redness. :p

Our loss to Canada was a bit of a pity, but it was a good match - well, at least the third period, which was the only one I was able to actually see after coming home from work. Very dramatic. We fought well.

But our loss to USA 2 - 4 (2 - 4!!!!) in the Qualifying round was just a big, big shame. I didn't watch it, because I was at work, but I kept an eye on the text report on IHWC website. By the shots and saves percentage it looked like the Americans played a pretty defensive hockey, but took an advantage of quick breaks, while ours were just shooting in vain. [face_plain]

Though, it's still not as big of a shame as the Czechs losing to Germany 0 - 2... :p I was checking a IHWC thread in one Czech discussion forum that I visit, and everyone was just shocked. :p

The Germans played Canada tough, too.

Their team has played quite respectably at the tournie, so far.

Currently 5-2 Canada over Belarus in the third period. Looks like we have things fairly well in hand.

I cannot BELIEVE what a huge deal has been made by the government about Doan being Captain of Team Canada. I actually heard someone try to draw comparisons between what was 'allegedly' said by Doan to the persecution that the african americans and jewish peoples have suffered! SERIOUSLY!

The politicians should be ashamed of themselves. They make it sound like it should be the MPs decision on who should be the Captain of Team Canada. Doan was CLEARED by the NHL and yet, they had to stick their big noses into something that's none of their business. As a Political Scientist, I have to say they made a big mistake bringing this up in the House of Commons. This whole affair has just made me want Canada to win even more, just to show those lazy MPs in Ottawa that Andy Murray knows what he's doing. :p

I totally agree but you gotta remember they're providing millions of dollars to the Canadian Hockey Association, which is why they felt it was such a big issue but of course it obviously isn't.

Good point. I think it was more of an issue for the Bloc then anyone else and they were just trying to stir stuff up in the House. I just wish the issue would die already. It's starting to get embarrassing. :p

It's a shame. :( We were actually playing quite well, but made some very stupid and pointless mistakes - and we paid for them... :( But we fought until the end.

Interesting game between Finland and USA yesterday. Lots of mistakes by both sides. But still I'm glad that the right team won.

I must say, I underestimated our team before the tournament started but they've just looked great the whole time.
