The projected track is definitely odd. Brushing Florida as a cat 4, circling back around, crossing Florida again, revving back up to major hurricane strength and slamming into the Mexican Riviera. There are great discounts though for booking cruises in hurricane season.

 

My grandma's in Orlando. I'm sure she'll be fine, but I'm still a bit worried.

 

Local news is projecting it to be worse than Charlie. Admittedly, the news likes to over-hype every storm that comes our way. I hope they're wrong. But now that Disney actually is closing the entire resort (which doesn't happen often, not even in the face of past major hurricanes), I'm starting to get a bit concerned. You know there's cause to worry when Disney decides to stop business.

I hope everyone here and their families are safe. My former co-worker is in the direct path down in South Florida so I'm hoping he and his family make it through okay along with everyone else.

That is completely incorrect. Wilma was retired because it was the most powerful tropical cyclone in the western hemisphere and caused devastating damage and loss of life in the Yucatan peninsula and Florida. It did not reach Europe as a tropical cyclone; you are likely thinking of Vince that formed before Wilma although it did not make it to Europe as a hurricane but as a tropical depression. But Vince was not retired.

 

Just looked that up on Wiki, Vince was apparently not retired.

 

Oh. I got confused as a said before. Vince should of been retired. The fact that Vince reached Europe as a TD & not Extratropical it deserves retirement.

My wife put the Weather Channel on. I'm now more hyped for Matthew than I am for Rogue One, Justice League, infinity War and spending three weeks with jp-30 visiting the vineyards of New Zealand. Combined!
