So it missed Orlando. I imagine the theme parks are kicking themselves for closing (first time in what, almost a decade for Disney?).

We're just getting perpetual rain. Not even as annoying as a typical Florida thunder storm.

I'm glad the worst of it missed West Palm Beach. The rest of my sister's family aren't in the southern US (that I know of).

 

The best help Haiti can get some birth control. The poor needs to stop having kids.

 

Here in Central Florida, my power and water is still operational. Little rain but the wind gusts are tropical storm strength.

I'm in Columbia, which is far enough inland that we shouldn't be in much danger of the hurricane itself. It's been raining on and off so far today, but nothing too bad. Like heels said, the flooding is the biggest danger (especially after a year ago). Thankfully my part of the neighborhood is at a relatively high elevation, so I don't think we're in any trouble. And the university where I work has been closed since Wednesday, so no traveling treacherous roads for me either. I just hope all those in low-elevation areas (including houses in our neighborhood that are down the hill and closer to the creek) can stay safe!

 

Supposedly Orlando is still under curfew. But it's only raining out... lightly at that.

 

What happens if you get caught out on the street during curfew?

 

Supposedly you could get arrested. But I haven't really seen anything about this outside of social media. I've been out a couple times already to visit family.
