I would just like to thank J-Rod and STARBOB for trying to draw equivalence of my pictures comparing Trump's and an Orangutan's hair with a theoretical picture of that ape and President Obama.

Thanks for missing the point of my post by a mile.

You guys aren't going to persuade many minds by mailing it in like that. That's just lazy.

I advise you to read this article: Comparing black people to monkeys has a long, dark simian history

No one is comparing Trump to a monkey because he's white. If I had to guess, it would be because of his eccentric hair and how it looks on him. I personally think it's an infantile comparison myself as there are other things to mock Trump for without acting like the lowest common denominator

However, many black people have been compared to monkeys or apes because of their skin color and for perceived negative stereotypes such as being primitive, violent and animalistic. Barack and Michelle Obama have been the victims of this, not because of any physical similarities but because of their skin color. That's why calling Trump an orangutan (which is not something I endorse) carries only a fraction of the negative impact as calling a black person an orangutan.

Comparing Trump and an apes hair is absolutely infantile but many funny things are. And yes, there are many more important things to mock Trump for but this thread gets heavy at times and a little schoolyard can help balance the mass hysteria.

Yep. This is exactly what will spell his defeat. It was only a matter of time that Trump beat himself. He was the only one that could beat him and he is doing a fabulous job.

He's spent five days dragging his entire campaign fighting a losing battle with this beauty pageant contestant. He is so small minded and petty that he simply can't help it. I keep repeating the obvious but it is amazing how clearly he falls in line with what people assume are his character flaws.

Can you really imagine the President up late at night in the Lincoln bedroom tweeting about a mean reporter? Seriously, it is unbelievable he has made it this far. That is what concerns me more than anything. He's just one guy. But tens of millions are supporting him.

I read it. At least it's thoughtful.

But treating people differently based on race is still wrong.

ShaneP Yeah, but we've all at one point or another said that before. I'm not counting my chickens before election day hatches them.

Have you not been paying attention to what I'm saying? No one is calling Trump an orangutan because he's white! People who call black people apes do so because of their race! I don't know how you don't understand this.

So only white people can actually look like another animal? In all other cases it is because of race and not resemblance?

How did you get this from what I said earlier? I'm curious as to how your mind works.

They tend to go hand in hand when the issue is black people and monkeys. People who compare black people to monkeys and claim it's because of resemblance are doing so because they are racist.

Look at it critically. He's made plenty of these comments before. But not at the convention. Not in major debates. If he goes into debate 2 and 3 and starts off on that rant, if he starts releasing ads like that. If he truly focuses on going after a person who stayed with her cheating husband when he and two of his advisors are on their third marriage, well that notion of throwing stones in glass houses comes up again. It opens up his flank big time and gives Hillary an area she and her people have purposefully avoided hitting. But if he goes there, all the things he did to his wives are now fair game. On top of the Miss Universe and the rest. If he chooses to truly spend the next two weeks focused on this, it will be all the news focuses on and this time, people can't dismiss it as one of comments or poor word choice. They thought that about a lot of his ideas until he doubled down on them at the debate. If he does that again, that will seal his fate in the eyes of many voters- especially those who are just now paying attention to this race.

The difference is this. Every time he pulls that crazy act on a television event watch by most of America, his poll numbers go down and Hillary gets a large bump. The convention and now this debate are two good gauges. Now, he has two more of these in close succession. And in the mean time, he's coming across as a raving lunatic while early voting begins. Michael Moore's pessimism aside, Americans are not going to commit their own suicide by voting this man in. I said it weeks ago: now that Fall is here and vacation is over, Americans are back to basking in the warm glow of television where they can see Trump's crazy up close and personal. When finally confronted with the idea that this man would be our president for four years, that's when they start thinking Hillary Clinton isn't so bad.

Because Trump does look like that orangutan. (It was a funny pic and I wouldn't say otherwise!)

    Curious.

Kudos for being drawn into a discussion about whether Orange-O-Tan monkey comparisons are "reverse racism."

Yeah, I know... that's why I said "if he tries it again, at the debates". Because there's discussion about whether he might try to bring up Bill's affairs.

What's even more infantile is that Trump tried to sue Bill Maher for calling him an orangutan.

Apropos of nothing, "24" had President Allison Taylor, rather excellently played by Cherry Jones, who first appeared in Nov. 2008 TV movie "24: Redemption". I don't think it's too far fetched to say she was sort of meant to be a Hillary Clinton analogue, at least in at her initial appearance as a female President. But the interesting thing is, the actress and the character was come up with way back as far as 2007 but her first appearance was delayed and retroactively added to "24: Redemption" (she would have first appeared in Season 7, Episode 1) due to the 07-08 writer's strike. So, basically, "24" came up with a Clinton analogue in mid-to-late-2007, basically thinking that Clinton would become President but then Obama came outta nowhere and stole Clinton's thunder and nomination. So now, if Clinton wins, reality will finally catch up to the 24-verse. We're running out of time! Dammit! Set up a perimeter!

Trump had a cameo in a porn video in 2000... (and he's starting fake rumors of that Miss Universe appearing in a porn video to humiliate her)

What does this even mean? Why should anyone care?

Regardless of whether it was a spur of the moment comment, he repeated enough variants of the comment that they either represent his actual beliefs or what he wants the public to think are his beliefs. That's really the only thing worth saying.
