Games The 25th SWC/EUC Starfighter Draft: Old Enough to Have Death Sticks (Congrats ma_petite!)

I think he's very good, but maybe like low 3rd round or high 4th kind of good. Once we get one or two more films for sure in the first or second depending on what he does. Also, you can't really build a team around him because he hasn't worked with 99% of the people in the draft, I think he'd work ok with others just probably isn't a good 1st round pick in that regard.

 

I would place him in the second round at the lowest between the movie and the comic. What we have seen of him so far is an extremely high level of skill, and by far the best dogfighting we've seen on screen in any medium.

If it helps, he is one of only 5 people in the FFG x-wing game to have a pilot rating of 9. Even Luke only has an 8.

yea, i'm pretty much proof of that.

and luke not being a nine... is just silly given what he's done. is there anywhere i might be able to see this list? my googlefu is not very good in this regard, sadly.

also, i'm curious, why is ship not on the list?

 

ok... are we actually using those skill things in the x-wing game in this as an kind of influence? because there's some of them that are absolute bunk... luke not being a nine, wes being as good as luke and better than stele... just yea.

 

It's not something I'd take as law for how good anyone actially is, but it's honestly not bad as a rough gage.

I also don't see luke as one of the best pure pilots since he stopped doing it for the most part. He does have a lot of other factors that let him beat better pilots most of the time though.

I wouldn't use the x-wing values as a serious number; Constable Zuvio is a 7, for example


We tried Ship once..... The consternation is caused some people was enough to remove it from the list

 

If Poe comes with BB-8, I'm voting him over Vader.

 

I wouldn't use them at all, those are geared more towards the fans who are going to buy the game as it is towards actual skill that a pilot should have. New fans love Poe and those fans are young and tend to buy games far more often, so they rank him high so it is fun to play him in the game. EA UFC games are like that as well, they rank Conor McGreggor as a beast who is (in the game) better than pretty much anyone else, yet he would get destroyed by 80% of the game roster in an actual sanctioned MMA fight.....the only reason he gets so much credit in the game is because he is a fan favorite.

Those game ratings account for popularity as much as any other factor.

The Marvel Comic database has the same kinds of ratings, they aren't useful at all. It's far more beneficial to rely on known feats and compare them directly to the feats of others, Poe has a lot of nice looking stuff but when you compare it to the laundry list of amazing things done by true first rounders it just doesn't stack up well in my opinion.
