And I'm voting Rey over Lando. Because Lando is going to make some overly flirtatious/sexual/uncomfortable comment to Rey, kicking in plot devices that fuel her to victory.

So although not explicit, she does have a sizeable amount of flying experience to her credit before the YV war even starts. Enough to earn her the rank of major and a flight lead position in Rogue Squadron- an identical position to Inyri Forge.

So these aren't scrub pilots--Gavin thinks they're pretty good--and, well, they have quite some difficulty against the YV.

In Rogue Sqaudron, she flies in their opening engagement against the YV (2 pilots are killed), defensive action at Dubrillion flying against a miid ro'ik, then at Dantooine:

Rogue Squadron with 50% casualties? Ridiculous. How many other times have we seen the Rogues lose half of their forces in a dogfight (it's also fairly even 2v1, as opposed to some of their battles, which are highly stacked against the Rogues).

Again, the Rogues taking on a numerically larger force, and the NewRep forces would have been completely destroyed if not for the intervention of Pellaeon and Jag Fel.

I won't posit exact numbers here, but based on prior engagements, that a lot of coralskippers. Seriously, a huge number of them.

Gavin is surprised that Rogue Squadron's losses haven't been worse, and this isn't that long into the battle.

Varth is still in Rogue Squadron well into the second year of the war:

That's from the very start of their assault on the worldship being built at Sernpidal (when Kyp tricked them into attacking it). They start off by engaging the YV down 1:2 and there's still a bunch of YV ships in the system: more coralskippers show up and there's a couple large YV ships they have to engage as well. And despite Rogue Squadron having experience and tricks to use against the YV, they still lose 5 or more pilots in that fight (Kyp's Dozen is also there and he also lose a significant chunk of his squadron).

Varth has extensive flying experience in some really tough fights for the Rogues. Seriously, Rogue Squadron has an insane (for them) loss rate over their first engagements with the Vong. And she makes it through all of them; Dubrillion, Dantooine, Garqi, Ithor, Kalarba, Sernpidal, etc. Something matched by Gavin and Inyri.

Dash is a good pilot and has a few good battles going for him, but nothing on the level of the insanity that is those initial battles against the Yuuzhan Vong.

And so we go to playoffs. With Heels's victory over RX (I accidentally flipped their pilots), the playoffs are set, but we still have teams between Mikaboshi and DarkEagle which will be important since they'll be facing each other in the playoffs . Get those arguments out!

I don't see Takes on to Rogue One making up the gap at the top level there. Wedge + Kyp is too much to overcome, and the squad has good cohesion, too. I'm voting Wedge Salad.

So, Myn,

1. Commander of Talon Squadron, and survived an Imperial ambush that saw his whole squad killed.
2. Recruited by Wes for Wraith Squadron based on Myn's capabilities. He became Wraith's "sniper" Sounds cool!
3. Survived the Battle Folor
4. Survived the Battle of Ession

And, Nial Declann has really little to show in terms of dog fighting, or surviving big battles in a fighter. He's said to be good with a TIE but where do we see it? He dies quick, and then Myn can concentrate on "Ace" who from what I've seen, does not have the experience that Myn does. Also, Myn's opponents don't know each other and by extension they wouldn't know their partner's tendencies. Sure their both TIE pilots, but they aren't the elite ones.
