Games The 25th SWC/EUC Starfighter Draft: Old Enough to Have Death Sticks (Congrats ma_petite!)

quick thoughts from the first two rounds:

RX: Luke and Hobbie - no fault here. Solid. The only thing hindering you is the teams doing even better.
Darkslayer: Anakin and Lando - Lando seems a reach. He's a first round talent in "Star Wars Characters to have a beer with" draft, but not sure he's 2nd Round Material in this draft.
cubman - Vader and Kyp - yes. Screw cohesion. Keep doing what you're doing. This is one of the three best teams so far.
Owen - Hera and Sabine - Well, I'm willing to listen to arguments. I hope you've got strong ones.
Mike - Wedge and Turr - Yes. Keep doing what you're doing. This is one of the three best teams so far.
sey - Soontir and Pash. Nothing wrong here. I'd rank it slightly higher than RX, but the same issue - some teams are doing even better.
Nehru - Poe and Myri - once again, willing to listen to arguments. Hope you have good ones. Poe has a great rep, but short on feats so far.
heels - Jaina and Corran - Yes. Best twosome so far.
DE - Tycho and Saesee - Similar to RX and sey. This would be a fantastic team, except for the three even betters.
ABP - Han and Wes - Broken Record inty is a broken record.
Snax - (vacant) - DarthTunick - I can't wait to see the Lee/Te Corso equivalent in this draft
Furio - Maarek and Gavin - Same as sey, RX, ABP, and DE. I'd probably rank this twosome the best of that set.

 

Thanks for that lol. I'm really just trying to a) have fun and b) learn about the starfighter pilots, as unlike the Jedi draft I am very unfamiliar with Star Wars pilots outside of the best.

My thinking was that Lando destroyed the second Death Star and performed some nice little maneuvers at Endor and Tanaab so I thought he would be solid.

 

lando... has typically fallen to about round six. and even then it's been kind of debatable. i think havac made him work as a fourth rounder. once.

 

Are most of the best pilots from the post-ROTJ Legends EU? That would explain my unfamiliarity with them.

 

yea, that's pretty much the case, because they're the ones we actually get to see do flying. there just wasn't that much of it in the movies, whereas you have things like the x-wing series where there's an absolute ton of it. and then there's the other wars as well, where there's rather a lot as well. so yea, that'd probably explain it.

 

Ah. I've only read the Thrawn books and Fate of the Jedi in the Legends-post ROTJ period. I was always more interested the Old Republic and Prequel eras.

 

i like those too, unfortunately there's not much in the way of piloting during those.

 

i was just pointing out what has been, not necessarily what's accurate. though personally i wouldn't put him above a five, and even then pretty low.

 

DarthIntegral Did you not see Poe bulls-eye those TIE's in TFA on Takodona? And Myri is an Antilles, it's in her blood.

 

Yes. have fun. That's the most important thing. I'd rather draft a team of characters I want to have a beer with than draft just the best pilots on paper.
