Kudos to President Obama for attempting to close Gitmo. However, I doubt that the Republicans will cooperate. Obstruction is their version of playtime.

 

I've heard that President Obama now has a 51% approval rating. A lot of this stems from public fear and distrust of his potential successor(s). Plus, many people trust him and understand that it was smooth sailing with him.

He did this in part though by creating a new class of people with catastrophic coverage but not enough money to pay for routine healthcare or lower level emergent care.

Still an improvement. But it shows how limited a solution an exchange for mandatory private insurance coverage is. There are far too many Americans who have a hard time coming up with an unexpected $500 payment, let alone the entire per person annual deductible of a typical ACA plan.

Being insured is so great except for the part where my mother has to go 100 miles to find a rheumatologist that accepts the obamacare insurance. Very helpful mr obama.

 

I'm sorry for your mother, but I am not sorry that -- on balance -- it's better for everyone else. If everyone wants "me me me" then we'll all never get to where we need to...

 

My wife gets to buy health insurance on the exchange despite a preexisting condition that once made her uninsurable. Very helpful Mr. Obama.
