The Advisory Council: Term 4 - who we are, what we do, and how you can help

The Advisory Council has never been charged with vetting potential moderator candidates, nor do I suspect that it ever will be. Nor do I believe it should be.

As for Steve, I'm glad to see him back in the saddle again. He's one hilarious Englishman, and I think he did a fine job in TPM the last time around.

I also noticed TPM wasn't listed in the forums frequented by AC members. Perhaps this was an honest oversight.

It's nothing personal against Oakessteve, but this is another example of a mod being recycled some time after he voluntarily stepped down. Is this a pattern the AC has noticed and is discussing?

We generally don't get involved in the discussion of candidates. We're more in the mode of suggesting if a forum may need some more help but not as to whom we feel would be candidates.

 

There's really no need to discuss Steve, seeing as he likes Spielberg, therefore he is a good human being.

 

I repeat, not one time has the Advisory Council been asked for opinion regarding new moderators for any forum, "recycled" or not. If they ever choose to ask, I'm sure everyone will ave an opinion on it. Otherwise, it falls outside the purview of the AC.

You should be glad that the Administration had the good sense to elevate someone like Oakessteve to the position of moderator. He has a proven record of effectiveness in the TPM forum.

I see it this way. American Football teams generally pick coaches which have coached before, as they are trusted heads, who have a proven record. Oakes is that head here.

I do think that suggestions from JCers to the AC would come in useful. After all, remember that the AC is supposed to help you, so if you think of anybody whom you think would be able to make an improvement to your JC experience, do recommend that person.

After all, this isn't like choosing mods for the Mod Squad

 

Val, we're more than happy to take a look at suggestions for AC members. As Amazing said, just PM one of us the name of the individual, the forums in which they post and a brief statement on why you feel they'd serve the membership well by being on the AC.

An oversight, but of a different kind. Sure I haven't been as active in TPM as I used to be, but I still pop in.

I don't think the date of changeover will be exactly April 1st; normally the AC members may take a little longer to obtain confirmation from all those selected, and don't forget, the old members will stay on for a week or two to pass the ropes on
