Debatable, but for me it would be about seeing the Dodgers in, and winning a World Series! :p

There was some great stuff in the 80's, but there was a lot of awful, awful stuff that has not aged at all well.

I went to a Rubik's Cube exhibit at the local science museum today. There was some good stuff in the 80s.

Got a picture there too, you just can't see any Rubik's Cubes.

Rubik's cube has made a huge comeback at the school at which I teach. Good to see!

Surely no one is holding the torch for the television of the eighties. I mean, we can argue the movies, but we can all certainly agree that television in the eighties was awful.

    What you talkin' about!

Seriously though, I'd have to agree with that. I'd also put in a good word for 90's music.

I liked 80s television. It's where my crush on Michael J. Fox started, lasting all the way through Spin City in the 90s.

if you were the right age in the 80's you have a soft spot for a lot of those shows. it's how nostalgia works!

Maybe you could argue certain types of television are better now than in the 80s? HBO style larger production TV is in a very good place right now. But sitcoms are all but dead, largely replaced by reality TV. Sitcoms really peaked in the 90s.

man, i would totally disagree with that. sitcoms in the 90's were mostly a schlocky laugh tracked mess, with a few notable exceptions. sitcoms really started to peak in the 2000s with shows like the office, parks and rec, community, arrested development, it's always sunny, etc. and now there are still a lot of great options, though probably not on the major networks.

Reality shows are the worst thing that has ever happened to television.

"Let's show the stupidest and most annoying people alive and let's show them at bad camera angles! YAY!"

That's a good point. I think it's because I mostly haven't followed what's been happening with that format since the 90s. So I should rephrase that: My interest in sitcoms peaked in the 90s. :p

We had all the reruns of 80s US television here in the 90s. I grew up to "the a-team" and 21 jump street , and bud spencer (rip) and terrence hill movies.

It happens to be a Thursday and I happened to dig up a throwback on said day of the week...
