[b]Movies with Al Leong (and how he dies)[/b]

Godzilla '98 - Al makes a brief foreground appearance on the Japanese ship which is mauled in the opening. He is killed along with the rest of the crew. Stupid gojira.

The Replacement Killers - Al steps out into the alley at the end of the movie, and is barely visible as a blur of motion before Chow Yun-Fat shoots him.

John Caprenter's Escape from L.A. - Al is one of Pam Greer's henchmen. He survives the hang-gliding sequence, surprisingly, only to be immolated in the helicoptor.

Big Trouble in Little China - One of the Wing Kong (red turbans) leaders. Dies at the very end.

Lethal Weapon - The guy who tortures Mel Gibson at the end, goes to the Bad Guy, says, "I don't think he'll talk," and then returns to the cell, where Mel Gibson kills him.

Die Hard - Again, Al is the non-German terrorist who seems to be in charge of doing much of the dirty work. He gets killed by Bruce Willis in the end while returning from the roof.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - Proving his range as a comic actor, Al did admiriably as Ghenghis Khan in this delightful spoof. I don't think anyone else could have handled those baseball bats quite so well. Of course, he doesn't die in the movie, but if it makes you feel any bet ter, his character died in 1227 AD.

Last Action Hero - Chases Arnie.

Beverly Hills Cop III - In the chop shop at the beginning. He is visible for, oh, three seconds before being shot by the Bad Guy.

Showdown in Little Tokyo - Al shows up chasing Dolph in the scene where he rescues the girl from certain death; Al is killed by the exploding car.

Action Jackson - He falls for the fancy footwork of the retired boxer/hotel clerk character, then is shot in the forehead by the commisioner of police.

The Shadow - Steps out of a car in the beginning and is shot.

Hard Hunted - Al plays Raven, an evil henchmen of the movie's Blofeld wannabe. Raven has this little one-man helicopter (called the Raven, no less) with rockets, machine guns, and this really cool high-pitch whirring noise that it makes whenever it's o n screen. He only seems to have been on-camera for five minutes, but they manage to squeeze twice that in movie play out, because they use the same shot of him flying the helicopter all through the movie. In the beginning, he flys around attacking the double-oh-bunnies, firing rockets at all of the inexpensive things on the set ("They're fleeing in their landrover-- I will blow up that picnic table!" Instead of killing all the good guys, Al leaves them stranded on a Pacific island. Naturally, one of them pulls out a .44 magnum and blows up Al's helicopter with three shots from a hundred yards off.

Al also cameos in the first season of 24, and at 12:23 PM on the show's clock, Al was shot to death in the woods by Kieffer Sutherland.[hr][/blockquote]

Now, in order to get Al into Episode 3, we'll need to sacrifice a Virgin, a Virginian, and a Nestle Crunch bar....

 

Truly, Al is one of the finest living actors. For me, the highlight of his career was the appearance on 24. The way he convulsed and fell to the ground in a heep was one of the more personally impactful moments of Season One.

I believe the Actors Stuido has a class that studies the nuances of Al's Die Hard performance....carefull looking for the SWAT team, then resisting the inner turmoil of the candy display before giving in to his animal urges, before slaughtering the police. I think James Lipton teaches it as part of their masters program.

 

Al's temptation at the candy counter was monumental. Whenever I think "guy holding a machine gun wanting candy because it's there" I think of Al in Die Hard.

His character was great in Bill and Ted's My fav scene is when he trashes the sports store

 

Al was awesome in Lethal Weapon. He's the reason I decided to grow up to be a torture specialist.
