Challenge The Animated Challenge - Fifth Challenge 08/07 - The Kill Kenny Challenge

Hey folks, this is Kidan - rather than working or writing or other things that I should be doing, I've been thinking up a new challenge. Not sure how well this will be received, but that's okay.

First off, this is not necessarily a cross-over challenge. I'll accept entries that are crossovers, but the main goal here is to write Star Wars stories - using media, quotes, etc from other franchises (specifically animated tv shows, animated movies and comics) as the basis for inspiration.

Basically, consider this similar to the "Movie Quotation" or the "First Sentence" challenges, rather than being similar to the crossover thread's challenges. If that makes sense to anyone.

The way this works, is that I'll provide a seed for the plot bunny. These seeds could be anything from screen grabs from an animated Disney movie, a scanned scene from a comic book, the title of a single episode of an anime. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to take that seed and develop a story from it. That story could be a drabble, a short story or even a 150,000 word epic. I'm easy that way.


Anyways, enough of my ramblings, to start off with, we'll be using a scene from the manga of one of the first anime's I watched way back in the day...

Information:
This is a scan of a panel from the Macross manga, exactly which one I'm not entirely certain of. As a side note, Macross was known as Robotech here in the USA.

Things to think about:
What is it? Why is it in atmosphere? Is that fighter flying towards it on a suicide attack mission? Where is it coming from? Where is it going? Whose ship is it?

The minimalist rule set:

This sounds pretty cool, even though I don't think I'll be taking part in the challenge right now. I recognized that as Macross right away.

I'll admit that when I first clicked on this thread, I thought it was an "animated challenge," as in actual animation as opposed to writing I'm a little naive, I know.

Now onto the first seed...I have no idea about any "manga" type stuff...never been into any of that kind of animation, but you said it could also be movie quotes or disney stuff later on??

I would love to say I'd be a part of this...but right now I have no inspiration for the 1st seed (sorry!) Perhaps I may take up a future challenge, but I'll save that piccie to my compy and work really hard on a plot bunny...I'll even eat carrots for a week if it will help me

Sorry for my ramblings...in short, I love the idea, but at the moment I'm a maybe...is that ok??

Gah! I have been working on mine, but I was hit by a bigger and better plot bunny, so I've now scrapped my original idea completely, and it will be a little while yet before my new one is done.

Hopefully it'll be ready before we get the second seed

somehow I'm lucky with my quotes that they fit so perfectly for it
