Yeah if you would pay attention and read pooh's post then...duh.

 

EF stated that this is Dragon Ball, not Dragon Ball Z. There is no difference between the mangas, what we know as the Dragon Ball manga did not get a name change in Japan when it began the Saiyan Saga. However, the anime did. Me? I thought we should've had DBZ characters up to when they could fly. Obviously EF, who is really the one who matters, did not agree. Thus, we end with the characters at their peak as they were at the end of Dragon Ball. Which means Goku had just gotten married, IIRC.

This means no Vegeta, none of his bald cronie I can't recall the name of, and no flying. It also means no Super Saiyan 1 even. Still fairly powerful, but not 15 episodes of 5 minutes to destroy Namek powerlevels.

Yeah I kinda asked about that in my PM BaSSiL. I really wasn't sure at all. Thanks for clearing it up. It doesn't matter now though because I didn't get a chance to even pick him anyway.

 

Ahhh, I was wondering why no Vegeta.

Man this draft is going to be hard, after the first 2 or 3 rounds I have a feeling I am going to be making some really bad picks.

Hm... Not too thrilled w/Goku that high myself, and I think he had some years between DB and DBZ, but could be wrong (enough for Gohan to grow right? Never saw the end of DB so I dunno when they had him).

But I think even if he turns out not to be the greatest option, with the general confusion he shouldn't hurt much.

 

Actually, a little correction there, Bassil. Goku can certainly has a way to fly in DB. At the very beginning of DBZ he is doing it. And if it doesn't actually show him flying in DB, well, he has other ways to do that.

As for why they're limited to DB levels, I think it's fairly obvious. Besides the fight against Raditz, Goku doesn't fight at all in the beginning of DBZ, and when he does, his power is increased greatly. When he dies, he's not even able to stand up on North Kaiô's planet. At the end he's running around just fine. Then he gets back to earth, and he has the Kaiô-ken, which makes him ten times better. Even then, he is plenty strong enough to destroy an entire planet. He's just too much. Unless the guys on the list prove to be stronger, or around Goku in DBZ at a certain saga(Because no one is better than Goku at the end of DBZ, at least not that I can see), then we can talk about letting them in. Until then, I still like Dragon Ball, and didn't want to leave them off the list entirely. And it's stated right under the list the first time I posted it. He's still very awesome, just not top dog awesome.



Oh, and I work a double shift on Fridays, so that's why I wasn't on all day.

I would vote towards allowing full blown, DBZ Goku. He'd be just like Luke in the JD, and Neo in the Movie Draft. A guaranteed win.

 

^ Agreed 1000% (but if that was the case then it would be an almost guaranteed win in team battles as well, and that is a fairly good reason to limit his power IMHO)

Optimus was my #2 option in my PM to EF, he is a most excellent pick indeed.

 

Okay, full-blown DBZ Goku is what, SSJ3? Yeah. That's like, well, put it this way, Frieza, who is lower than SSJ1, destroyed Namek with a blast when he was relatively weakened after a long battle. And DBZ characters get stronger exponentially from what I can see. So we're probably talking destroying a solar system and likely a galaxy with little trouble. He's two or three levels above the rest, imo.

 

And? I see no problem with this.
