That is true, the NSW peeps are good with their meets.

And I guess you could lump it all together and say Star Walking and VicFF should be the same, but if the forum content (definitely anti star wars if we can help it :p) is any indication, VicFF isn't so much a group of Star Wars fans, as a bunch of individuals who happen to like SW but are much more interested in other things...

I don't know, really. I know so little about the people on here I can't make assumptions about the reasons we don't do the meet thing.

Yeah, I think what Skate is trying to say is that if we did meet, we would meet not because of Star Wars but because of VicFF.

I don't know about anyone else here but I rarely discuss SW anymore on the JC. I come here for the community.

heh, thanks for the warning, LV. I'm sure I'll have to head it sometime soon... :p

Welcome Vivsta :) I hope you're ready for the confusion that is our little group. And that you know the meaning of strategic retreat ;)

And Boogie, you said what I was trying to say :p We hang out here not because of SW, but because we're all weird and have lasted the distance through Huggard, Tyrants and rejected advances of friendship. Didn't we used to have penalties for mentioning SW at one point?

Adn I find it HIGHLY amusing that this is the most active the forum has been in about a month :p

    Gee thanks LV :p

and ok sorry but: VicFF isn't so much a group of Star Wars fans, as a bunch of individuals who happen to like SW but are much more interested in other things...

WTF??? Sorry but I'm a bigger MetallicA fan than I am Star Wars so excuse me if I'm with StarWalking and happen to have a life outside star wars and just happen to ruin your theory there, sanks very much :p lol geez gimme a break here.

Will make something a little clearer about the club - it's no different to this whole thing of being on a forum and having interests elsewhere. The club doesn't ONLY centre around Star wars nerdy people that have way too much free time on their hands, for me I go there to socialise, I go there to have a good time and yeah it just happens that everyone there has something in common - they're all fans of the movies, but I mean it doesn't mean that Star Wars is all there is... I hope I'm making sense here...

I'm guessing that's probably more due to the fact that no-one else has checked in, rather than they don't care.

And although Hawk hasn't posted, I know he is concerned about VicFF and is going to work to bring it back to greatness...

I wasn't aware that the Astor was an official meet. Granted though, if it was I still wouldn't come because I have 1000 words to write by Monday (which I really should be doing now instead of debating VicFF's future here) and I'm not really interested in seeing ROTS again until the DVD time.

    EDIT:

Yes, you are making perfect sense. Except I don't see why that makes any difference.

Um, okay, I didn't say that you had to only like SW to go to Star Walking. I was just replying to the idea that VicFF members should go because they like SW, that the reason we like SW should be enough to make us go. I'm just not interested in it personally at the moment. That okay with you? o_O I'm sure Star Walking is great. As I've said before, I have heard good things - that you can have fun and socialise etc.

But whats on at the Astor this weekend?

It makes a difference because StarWalking is no different to here is what I'm saying. You're saying that the people who show up to StarWalking only go to centre around star wars and VicFF doesn't cause they have lives outside Star Wars... sorry but that's simply not true. StarWalking is the same, there are other things there apart from Star Wars.

EDIT: Stake it's cool, I get what you're saying, i'm just saying i dont' think there's really any difference, i mean if VicFF have an event people go, if StarWalking have an event, people go, it shouldn't really make all that much difference if it's either ya know?

I'm a bit more pigheaded than Skate, sorry, Vivsta.

Okay, so there is the official Star Wars site boards and there are the JC boards. Many people go between both. Many people go there to discuss Star Wars. Many people go simply just for the community. Going by your logic, if I go to the JC boards, I should come to the Official boards as well, if I am invited.

LOL I think I get what you're saying Skate.. that you're not a huge star wars fan so you dont really want to go to a 'star wars' event... but what confuses me is if it were a VicFF event isn't that a 'star wars' event?

Ok that sounds nerdy but like while you might not talk about star wars whatsoever in a VicFF event what i've been saying is you dont necessarily have to talk about star wars at a starwalking one either.

Hahahahaha how we all doin? :D

I'm also saying that you don't necessarily have to go to a starwalking event, but it would suck to see you not come simply because you think it's 'only star wars'?

    I'm confused. 8-}

But I'll give it a go.

What Vivsta is trying to say....correct me if I'm wrong (I know you will)....is that a Star Walking (two words BTW) event isn;t just about Star Wars...it's about the social atmosphere created by people that share a common interest.

In other words, just because it's a movie screening or a bowling day that has been organised by the Fan Club, doen't mean you have to go alone and talk Star Wars all the time. In fact I go to events and hardly talk STar Wars at all most of the time.

It's just an extended communitee of freinds.....which should and does include people from here.

    Okay, I can't help myself...

I would go to a VicFF meet to intrduce myself to the people I have come to know here on the board. Not becasue of my love of star wars, not becasue i would feel compelled to. I just want to meet the psychos who post here.

I don't know anyone besides LV in Star Walking and I figure if we were to have a VicFF meet, he might want to come along too. Hence I am not compelled to attend Star Walking events. If perhaps the rest of these jokers were planning on attending, I might do so to meet them.

    Does that make sense?

Yeah I totally get what you're saying and it's cool.

What I think was the case was that StarWalking had an event and it was a good excuse for people on here to use it to meet up with each other as well as meet some really awesome people that go to the Starwalking events as well. And seriously, they're just as crazy as people are on here (very much so referring to Dags) I don't reckon you'd regret going :)

The Darkzone for instance had nothing to do with 'star wars' it was just a bunch of people that knew each other from the club getting together and having a shoot em up night, what the idea was, was to get some people from here as well to come along to meet each other and have some fun as well.

Skate has now returned the favour by enunciating exactly what I was trying to get across.

Yes. But what considering quite a few of us have never met each other I think we'd much rather meet each other by ourselves before we go to a larger event.
