The Anthony Hopkins As Emperor Palpatine League

Anybody besides myself and OurBenevolentLeader feel Hopkins would have been a perfect Palp, what with his Hannibal voice and all?

 

No, I don't like that actor.
When I see him in the hannible role, I think "freak" not "evil".

 

No. Anthony Hopkins is 1,200x a better actor than McDiarmid.
Don't bash him. He is a refined but somewhat eccentric gentleman, perfect for Cos Palpatine the Senator, but can be cruel and malicious, perfect for Cos Palpatine the Emperor.

 

I have nothing against Anthony Hopkins. He's a fine actor and he probably would have done a fine job as Palptine.

However, I simply can't picture anybody else in that role besides Ian McDiarmid (and occasionally a woman's face, monkey eyes, and Clive Reviell's voice) in that role. He was just perfect.

Just saying that personally, I don't like the guy. And I agree with Tropical_Plumber. I can't even invision anyone but McDiarmid in that role.

 

I can only see two people that would fit the role of an eerie and sadistic Emperor. One, of course, is Ian McDiarmid.


The other is Micheal Jackson.

Hey! I posted this as a joke a few days ago. Is that where you got the idea? Personally I think it would terrible. McDiarmid IS Palpatine, period.

Hopkins is BRILLIANT

I have nothing against Anthony Hopkins, and he is a great actor.

However, Ian McDiamand IS Palpatine and he does a fantastic job of it.

I wouldn't want to see anyone else in the role, depsite who they may be.

 

Hopkins IS brilliant.

But he's not x1200 times the actor than McDiarmid is. McDiarmid is just fantastic as Palpatine *burst of force lightning*

 

Hopkins would have been a great choice. But my favorite part of ROTJ was always the parts with the Emperor. I really like Ian's portrayel(sp?). If he weren't available i'd think Hopkins would be a good choice.
