This is the place for you to post if you think that these forums have been overwhelmed with Harry Potter and LOTR, if you don't really think it's so interesting to read fantasy, or if you just want to post somewhere where you wont be attacked by an army of Legolas-socks, can I please ask them to keep away from this thread!

I admit that I don't like LOTR or Harry Potter and the only fantasy that I've enjoyed is the Discworld series, and that's just because they are funny.

come on ther must be others like me around!

Well Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Comics, generates NEW Imagination... that's what's SO GREAT about them... However there IS too much about LOTR & HP though.

These are NOT the only films you know!

Are you perhaps aware that Star Wars is alot closer to fantasy than to Sci-fi?

*walks in in a pointy hat, carrying a broom in one hand and a scythe in the other. Is accompanied by a small, skeletal rat in a black cloak.*

I get the feeling I ain't gonna be welcome here...

You do realize that Star Wars better suits the "fantasy" genre than it does the "sci-fi" genre, right?

Still, I am so damn sick of LotR threads.

    Isn't Lando cool?

No, Lando is not cool, otherwise it'd be Leia Organa-Calrissian. ;)

Gee, I wonder why this thread has only generated 13 posts.

Get your shovels out, cause you'll be digging for it in an hour.

I'm not much of a fan of fantasy, either. I'm a huge fan of Terry Pratchett and Glen Cook, but both are very atypical for the genre. I'm much happier reading the likes of Egan, Vinge, Stephenson, Bujold, and Brin.

Well I don't like sci-fi either, this thing about SW is actually a mystery, why do I like it?

The horrible thing about internet message boards is that the type of people who like Star Wars, also likes LOTR and/or HP, and little to nothing else in the film industry, save the cool few with taste in good film.

I liked LOTR. Never read the books, never checked out the spoilers, and I couldnt unglue myself from my seat. I found myself wanting the movie to keep going, even after 3 hours, and that's what the movie experience is all about.

I like movies about the military, more realistic types of combat and such. But Laser-swords and magic rings are cool with me.

If I want to read something about fighters with sword, nice clothing and so on, I simply read a book about the Middle Ages!

    Best.Thread.Ever.

It's about time. I'm sick of all the lame LOTR threads. Especially considering that there are already popular LOTR sites. Why does it need to clog up this SW message board?

    Harry Potter sucked.

So what do you generally like to read, if you like reading that is.

I prefer reading thrillers or historical novels, and when there's a mix of both I looove it.
