The best rivalry in college? Sure, why not. But, in all of sports? Please.

 

What do you propose that the best rivalry in all of North American sports is, then?

 

I'm biased, but Ohio State - Michigan.

 

It's a great rivalry, for sure, and one that transcends one sport, so it's got that going for it.

 

Hmm that's a really good question. I think Alabama/Auburn has to be up there and up until this year A&M/tu as well.

 

Well I don't think any other rivalry has one where somebody kills the trees of their team's rival's school

 

I'm biased but it's Steelers/Ravens for me. There's nothing like it I've ever experienced.

 

Naturally, Giants/Dodgers & Celtics/Lakers rank at the top of my list. Philadelphia vs. the rest of America is also up there.

 

Which sports rivalries grew out of a real war? An honest, military conflict with bloodshed and casualties?

Ohio State - Michigan.

 

I'm going to try to be unbiased and say OSU/Michigan, Alabama/Auburn, and Duke/UNC are the big three in college sports.

North American sports maybe.

I think rivalries like Celtic/Rangers and Inter/AC are slightly more heated.

 

UCLA vs USC is up there. And much as the distance thing is cited in Duke vs NC, UCLA and USC are about the same distance apart. And USC is actually closer to UCLA's football stadium than UCLA is.

 

Notre Dame - USC. I may be a little biased, tough.

And it's absurd that wrestling is being dropped from the Olympics. It's a quintessential Olympic sport.

Oscar Pistorius vs Reeva Steenkamp

 

I wouldn't even rank those as the top for their sport. Give me the Superclásico - River Plate vs Boca Junios - as the top Club Soccer rivalry.

 

Guys, there's only one way to objectively settle the question of top soccer rivalries.

How many people has the rivalry killed?

 

I was just about to say celtics play basketball & rangers are hockey or baseball . Then I realized you are talking about
scottish soccer.

 

I'd take El Classico over the Old Firm rivalry, too. Maybe 30 years ago it would have been a different story.
