    Better fan reaction:

    1) Awesome little Golden State fan celebrating victory over Phoenix last night:

    2) Michael Irvin celebrating The U hitting a free throw to draw level with Stanford in last night's NIT Final:

It's got to be Michael Irvin... an excited kid at an NBA game? Old news. But someone taking the NIT that seriously? Holy ****.:p

You're assuming Irvin actually knows where he is. And that he's not that excited over a text about a great deal on some blow.

Ernie Johnson from TNT won Best Studio Host tonight at the Sports Emmys. He called Stu Scott's daughters up and gave the award to them, saying it belonged with Stu:

So with the recent Marlins manager firing, who will be paid through 2017 (and Ozzie Guillen, who preceeded him, is still being paid), ESPN looks at the ultimate case of a guy being paid to do nothing.

Charlie Weis raked in 6.6 million dollars when he was terminated from Notre Dame. He also receives 6 payments of 2.054 million, one annually - he has two remaining.

When Kansas fired Charlie Weis, they owed him 5.63 million, which they have divided into monthly payments that he has received regularly since his firing last fall.

The total possible damage? Between 18 and 24 million dollars, received while doing absolutely nothing related to either program.

I found this somewhat amusing (the comment right below the pic):

Yes, because the number 5 as it relates to Kobe/The Finals is just so random.
    :p

College baseball is a big deal here in South Carolina. So it's a big deal that Clemson fired Jack Leggett yesterday, unceremoniously.

22 years, 955 wins, 6 trips to the CWS. One of the greatest coaches of all-time, and he was fired for losing in his regional two years in a row without making it to a Super Regional.

It's always disturbing to watch a legend get the Tom Landry boot to the ass. Deserved much better.

This is probably a good a place as anywhere to post this (maybe we need a dedicated Simmons thread?)

The Barkley Cameo is, without hesitation, my favorite part.

Though the whole video is a complete win, there was something wickedly great at the end with Skipper & Goodell.

ESPYs tonight, when the late Lauren Hill's parents came on stage to memorialize her, Urban Meyer held her father's hand, and LeBron held her mom's.

    Yeah, a few tears.

Devon Still gave a beautiful tribute to his daughter, incredible fortitude. The most important news is that Leah, while unable to attend, is at her best health in a year and a half, and still cancer-free.

Caitlyn Jenner, I don't know where to start. That was a transformational speech, a moment in history that should not be forgotten. I've always thought the most important word in any language is "empathy." Ms. Jenner's appeal to it, to accept each other's differences, was truly moving.

I predict that in 3-4 years, HBO will have a nightly live show. Already have Maher and Oliver. Add in Bill Simmons, I'd bet Jon Stewart, maybe a guy like Bobby Flay, perhaps a cinema show with Richard Roeper, and then somebody like Alec Baldwin would be perfect to do his interview-style show that flopped on MSNBC. Quality programming with edgy, entertaining hosts.
