Dan! Awesome to see you posting some of your work. I look forward to what this thread will become!

    Loving the Outrider and of course Ahsoka -- I can't wait to see more of the Ahsoka drawings I know you have. I haven't seen the YT-2400 before, but the blueprint nature of it attracts me. Nice details.

    Thank you for your comments!

    Tyi-Maet_Nefer: The drawing of Outrider is one of my favourites as well. It kinda reminds me of Rogue Squadron. This is the inverted version which I later used for Dash Rendar's character sheet:

    TheMaidofOrleans: Thank you. I should have a few more posted soon.

    earlybird-obi-wan: Thankyou. :) I am glad that you enjoy them.

    Hello everyone.

    This update is about some of my earlier pencil drawings from the late 1990's to the early 2000's. When drawing, I prefer to use physical objects as references so I can either hold them and position them or see how natural and secondary light play off them. To be able to view from multiple angles of choice is a definitly a freedom. Toys are usually great. I haven't got the time now but I use to collect and build models of Star Wars vehicles. I find that the construction of them brings you closer and further insight to the design and finer details that might normally be overlooked.

    Incom T-65 X-Wing

    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/T-650012.jpg]

    This was done on a A3 sheet of paper back in.... I think it was 1999 or 2000. I had nothing to keep it safe except a A4 size folder where I keep my other drawings. Last year I was able to scan it into the computer. My reference was an AMT/ERTL X-Wing model. Some day I'll finish the electronic Proshop version I have slightly built. Just no room to work and store them.

    T-47- Airspeeder

    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/T-470010.jpg]

    Again I used a model as reference. The MPC/ERTL Snowspeeder model. For something that looks 'simple' at first became a bit of a pain to get the angles feel natural. Originally intended for a larger scene but that got scrapped and only this piece was done.

    Lil Yoshi

    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/lilYoshi.jpg]

    Yoshi has always been my favourite in the Mario series. I think the fact 'he' (or she) is Dinosaur-esque is one of the main reasons. I've heard that there are debates over whether Yoshi is a dinosaur or a dragon. To me, Yoshi is its own species that has relation to both groups.

    Gawain Knyte

    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Knyte.jpg]

    An original character created for an AU RPG which never really took off. At the time I was going for a Sean Bean look. The faintness of the image is because it was taken from my iCam as the scanner wasn't working at the time.

    Fox McCloud

    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Fox0008.jpg]

    Fox McCloud, leader of the Star Fox team. This artwork was made when Star Fox Adventures was released on the Gamecube back in 2002. During the adventure, Fox spends most of his time outside the Arwing as he tries to save the planet Sauria.

    On a side note, I still have the boxes to my models but because it would be troublesome to get them out at this time to accurately name them, I went to this site: [link=http://www.starwarsmodels.com]Star Wars Models[/link] to find the ones I own.

    Thank you and I hope you'll enjoy. [face_happy]

    Earlybird-obi-wan: Thank you. I sometimes miss drawing with pencils. I just don't have the time or room to set up properly nowdays to do some more. One of the banes of drawing is the eraser. Frustrating having the artwork ruined because of a smudge. Most of the artworks I do now are drawn into the computer using a Wacom graphics tablet.

    Hello.

    Things had been a little crazy lately in DRL, I apologise for not being able to respond sooner.

    earlybird-obi-wan : For me it is easier to draw animals than people. But I think that might be from drawing animals (mostly dinosaurs) when I was little. Over these last two years I seem to find myself drawing people more than anything else.

    kikichan: Thank you :). I have a lot more on the way.

    AzureAngel2: Thank you. I'm not much into horses either, I prefer Lions which are my favourite.

    I should have another update ready for tomorrow.

    See you all soon. :)

    Hello again. :)

    A little bit late but here is another update. I hope you'll enjoy.

    Ahsoka Tano
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/AhsokaFormalDress.jpg]

    Ahsoka Tano as... her older self again. Every time I draw her, I can't help but depict her how she is in the RPG I'm in. This took abit over a month using my graphics tablet. It went beyond what I was originally intending. My special thanks goes out to Pashatemur for invaluable feedback and support during the creation of this and also helping set the design of her necklace. There is a story behind the necklace which I cannot reveal at this moment but it is very important to her.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Obi0001.jpg]

    This pencil and paper image was made for a friend as a gift for them when they went on their trip back in 2004. The promo poster for Attack of the Clones was used as reference.

    Atmosphere
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/atmos-1.jpg]

    This is a piece of concept art for one of my projects that was made back in June. The project changed direction so the 'idea' of exploring each layer of the atmosphere didn't get to be used. Took a about 3 days to make using my graphics tablet and the most fun part was making the moon.

    The Phantom - W.I.P.
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/ThePhantomColour.jpg]

    Still being worked on, this is my attempt at the August Fan Art challenge. I still haven't finished colouring The Phantom's suit and drawing Hero (the Horse). At the moment, I am working on a certain 'someone' to be in the saddle and there is another character planned. Maybe I should have all the characters in this piece done and locked before I start colouring... oh well... there's always next time.

    If things continue to be on track, hopefully I will have 'The Phantom' artwork finished before the deadline. For the next update... I might go for an Imperial Theme.

    Can´t wait to see your Imperial theme, outrider!

    I liked your Ahsoka Tano a big deal. She looks better than in the offical movie & comic series.

    Your Phantom is also gorgeous.

    And I just did notice something: tell me, is your user name inspired by the Japanese Manga "Saber Rider"? I loved that series as a teenage girl in the 80ies.

    Thank you!

    I'm glad you like my Ahsoka. :) I try to portray her as real and natural as possible in my writings and it felt natural to break away from the stylised TCW version in the artworks that I make of her. To be honest, I haven't attempted to make a TCW stylised version of her at all. She's a great character.

    With 'The Ghost Who Walks'... as soon as I saw what the challenge was, I had to do The Phantom. My favourite comic hero of all time. The artwork is close to being complete now. Three of the characters in it are pretty much done. Just one more character to do and work on the foreground and background elements.

    I am not familiar with "Saber Rider". My username is a nod to Dash Rendar as Shadows of the Empire (along with the Special Editions of the OT) was what hooked me into Star Wars back in '97. I had seen and known of Star Wars before then but I was more into Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and The Lion King. Its funny, whenever I think of the 80's, MacGyver and Magnum P.I. always comes to my mind.

    I hope to have my Imperial update posted in a few hours.

    Thank you Kikichan :)[face_blush]. I can't wait to show off the other artworks that I have done of her.

    Hmmm. The Imperial Update... I know I said a few hours for this update to be posted but DRL had delayed me from bringing things together. It is a large update and I was going to break it down into two batches but it didn't feel natural to split it up so here it all is... I hope it is worth the wait. Here's a little Foreword before I get stuck into it.

    These series of digital artworks were produced and compiled for two posts in the Galaxy At War III RPG. It worked out faster creating the post in a 'comic' format than to write it out. What I am showing here are some of the original frames. I also include some alternatives to what was used and at the end will be the links to the final 'comic' versions.

    Quite a few people deserve my deepest thanks for the support, input and feedback they have shown me on these two posts: Pashatemur, HanSolo29, Jerjerrod-Lennox, TheMaidofOrleans, TheAdmiral, Tyi-Maet_Nefer, 2ndComing, MOE and two others I'll call 'Jedielf' and 'Mitth'ras'safis'.

    If I have forgotten to mention anyone, I apologise. Thank you. :)

    Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Mitthrawnuruodo.jpg]

    The striking feature of Thrawn's face are his eyes. This is one of my favourites. The comic effect on this turned out to be a happy accident by playing with different filters on my program.

    'Chimaera' in Hyperspace
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Chimaerarear.jpg]

    Setting the scene. The 'Chimaera''s journey from Naboo. Using a black background, I built up the white until the ship took shape over different layers. I created the dimension of Hyperspace once the ship was done to replace the black background.

    The Arrissa Asteroid Field
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Chimaeraextended.jpg]

    This was the first frame I had produced and used quite a few new techniques for me. We have the 'Chimaera' on the left arriving in system to find a trespasser in the area. Part of the' Judicator' on the 'Chimaera's' flank can be seen at the bottom. Colouring the asteroids was another happy accident by tweaking the different blending options.

    Mitth'raw'nuruodo's Chamber
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Chambertoptact.jpg]

    The holographic tactical map showing the positioning of the vessels while Thrawn studies the situation from his command chair.

    The Relentless
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Relentless.jpg]

    The Relentless is commanded by Captain Dorja whom is part of Grand Admiral Thrawn's fleet. Assigned to protect a R&D vessel between the fringe of the Asteroid field and Obligon Nebula.

    Communications Officer
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/RelentCom1.jpg]

    This and the next one gave me a chance to inject a little fun to the scenes. It was fun from my perspective anyway as this Communications Officer is based on Dr Daniel Jackson from SG-1, played by Michael Shanks.

    Captain 'Fraiser' Dorja
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/Dorjacopy.jpg]
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/Gallery/CaptainDorja.jpg]

    This is a fun one. Captain Dorja based on Dr Frasier Crane, played by Kelsey Grammer. I can't think of anyone else perfect for the role. The early form is without the cap but because the cap is part of the uniform, it has to be included as shown in the 2nd image. The second image was composited onto a bridge layout.
Here is the final version.

    Thank you Earlybird-obi-wan :) . There is a chance for me to work on more sometime soon.

    I know this is a bit late but I have finally finished my artwork for the August '09 Fan Art Challenge:

    The Jungle Patrol
    [image=http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd326/Corellian_Outrider/TheJunglePatrol.jpg]

    As I said before, I wanted to do the Phantom. How I should do it...well that was a tricky thing to decide. This one feels almost serene and fun with Ahsoka and Anakin there as well. They could be on their way to the Skull Cave or patrolling the Bengalla Jungle to keep the peace. The suit of the Phantom in the comics is a basic purple colour, my version is based on the '96 film with Billy Zane (,who I think played the role brilliantly. Hope he returns in the new film that is currently being made). It looks more special to me and visually more interesting.

    One of my earlier concepts was to have the Phantom pair up with Ahsoka against the Singh Brotherhood.
