    start tonight (UK time).

England's best chance at winning on Australian soil in a good 20 years. last time around they lost 5-0 but this Australian team is a shadow of its former glory. should be the most interesting series for a long time.

hopefully there's one or two others interested in discussing. or else i'll just post random updates jp30-style.

I was just thinking the other day that we didn't have a cricket discussion in the Arena. I've never seen a game so I can't even begin to be helpful in this thread for you, but I am excited that it is here.

I don't think that I've ever seen cricket, either. Seems like an interesting sport, though. I'll be sure to follow along in this thread.

Excited to go the the Adelaide Test (the Ashes always have incredible atmosphere) but I'm fairly certain Australia is going to get trounced this series. All our batsmen are out of form and our bowling is mediocre at best. I'm more pragmatic than many Aussie fans though that seem to think a team of McGrath/Warne/Hayden/Gilchrist/Ponting 5 years ago level stars is a usual state of affairs.

Great start for Australia, particularly that effort from Siddle.

important for England to get a few early wickets with the new ball.

Probably should have had one or two then, but the Aussies have toughed it out. Anderson probably bowled the spell of the match just then, but was very unlucky. Good to see Huss and Haddin back in form however.

    What a start for England!

Katich run out without facing a ball, Ponting out for a golden duck!
Clarke out too, his mobility is very limited.

    Australia just got Pommed.
